They've had an interesting career. How many bands have sold out twice, really? When they were playing in basements doing their all acoustic stuff... the dirt punks loved them. Then they signed to Fat and started playing electric and those kids hated them for selling out. Then they came out with that DVD were it whole plot was about if they were going to sign to a major and at the end they triumphantly declared they were going to stay on Fat, then turned around and signed to a major after that anyway. I was never really into them, but I lost what little respect I had for them at that point.

AH! Another excellent question. I don't get that either.

I don't get why so many people are into them. (I love smites)

RecordNerd is back...well, sorta

I agree... awesome site, but too sketchy to keep your list on. -
I understand the desire to complete a collection... sometimes it's just not worth it. Especially for something so marginal.

Hate to say it, but Jawbreaker wasn't a great live band. Add to that a shitty recording and short set. Totally not worth $50 much less $400.

A Vinyl Encyclopedia?

For older American punk records, this site is an amazing resource : www.fuzzlogic.com/flex -
Those are the kinds of stores I HATE. A billion records and none I would probably buy, but I always end up looking for the needle in the haystack anyway.

Some of the bigger bands from my town, currently : http://www.myspace.com/deadhearts http://www.myspace.com/lemuria http://www.myspace.com/everytimeidie http://www.myspace.com/cuteiswhatweaimfor http://www.myspace.com/itdiestoday So it's all over the place here. There really hasn't been a collective scene here for a while. -

I read somewhere that they made a few million dollars off the "pick your price" downloads. -

Do it! -
And actually get it yet? I preordered mine through Clean Plate in November, I believe they've had them since the beginning of December, and I have yet to get mine. I can't wait to see the thing.

People still seem to be paying over $100 for them. Now that they seem gone for real this time, it's going to creep back up. Especially in a few months when eBay isn't inundated with them. -
When I go into Hot Topic I feel dirty. Like corporate America is touching my peepee.

Sigur Ros "In A Frozen Sea" boxset
xxmartinxx replied to xxmartinxx's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=23781&page=1 For those who are interested in the consensus of the Sigur Ros fanatics. I take all of the negatives with a grain of salt. There were a lot of people complaining that the didn't have the accent mark on the "O". Give me a break. I think I'll still end up buying this someday. -
Please... stop. You sound retarded. The the plural of "vinyl" is "vinyl", not "vinyl". For example: If you go to your friend's house to check out his awesome record collection, you would say, "You've got a lot of sweet vinyl." NOT, "You've got a lot of sweet vinyl." Thanks and you're welcome.

Best/Worst/Favorite distros for vinyl
xxmartinxx replied to jacobe's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I just ordered from Very and Interpunk recently. Very was amazing... Super quick shipping, all the records I ordered and well boxed. Interpunk was good, too... except the lack of the "Media Mail" option, so I ended up paying $15 to ship a $90 order. Kinda sucks. I had ordered from one other time a few years ago, and I was pissed... High shipping, one of the 7"s I ordered was randomly missing the sleeve. One of the LP's cover looked like it was slashed with a razor. I emailed them and I never heard back. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure why I gave them a second chance. Insound is decent for indie rock sorta stuff. I haven't ordered from Rev in years, so I won't comment. Choke used to be good when they were going mail order. Going back a while, too... Vacuum was great. Super cheap prices. -

My other question is does it have the song from the bonus 10" from the Takk set? I have 3xLP Takk record, so I don't know if I'd have to keep that. -
Storing Records without Damaging Jackets/Sleeves.
xxmartinxx replied to corbet's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
So if you put the clear plastic sleeves around like, every other record, it would reduce ringwear? That would be nice. I hope that works. haha... Yeah, probably.
