  1. Does anyone have this thing? I want it, but $150 for 7 records is a bit pricey. And it's "limited" to 5000. : Is it worth it?
  2. I keep my stuff in the normal bags and I've never had a new record that has had ring wear. Ring wear is created by two unbagged records rubbing against each other.
  3. Agreed. The interviews I've seen where that number was quoted also stated that they couldn't tell if they were serious.
  4. Whelp, if you didn't get one already... get to eBay ASAP. I just checked if you can still order them... I got this message when I tried to add one to my basket : "There were not enough items in stock to fulfil your request"
  5. Me, too! But unfortunately, the records I ordered all have a bent corner.
  6. There is no way they can sell 80,000 copies at $80-$50 a piece. Holy shit. Yeah.... 8,000... but 80,000? I don't think so.
  7. Look into Grado headphones. I have a pair of SR80s and they sound amazing.
  8. How does that even work? Do you have to attatch the belt to it somehow? I think it lowers the voltage so the motor spins slower. I think... ???
  9. I used to have this guy before the VPI. It's a Music Hall MMF5, which was the same sort of operation. I would put a record down, clamp it, and the realize it was on the wrong speed. It drove me insane. The VPI was worth the extra money, not just for the improved sonics, but functionality.
  10. Man... your either really reading something into what I'm saying that isn't there, or not understanding what I'm saying. I was about to defend myself against your "elitist horse shit" jab, but what you wrote is so convoluted, I have no idea what it refers to.
  11. The best song on "Plans" is the song that's only on the vinyl.
  12. It really is a different experience... My passion for listening to recorded music was pretty much dead when my guitar amp tech let me hear his little single ended tube stereo he had boarded in his basement. With a Discman as input fed into fleamarket speakers, it made my head spin. It was so lush and 3D. I had never heard recorded music like that. Every music lover should get that chance.
  13. Upgrade a little at a time. Your stereo doesn't have enough wattage to push two PA speakers, plus you wouldn't it to.
  14. I would. You really don't know what you're missing until you hear it.
  15. ha i guess, a middle o the line player does the trick for me though. leaves me more time to listen to music. and less time thinking about if my set up was right. Actually, I have a low end table (in relative terms). What's the point of more record only to have them sound subpar?
  16. That's sorta like when people put $15,000 worth of rims on a $2,000 car. ???
  17. Kyle and I were talking about stereo crap, so let's see what everyone is running. My table : VPI Aries Scout My cartridge : Grado Prestige Gold My stereo : EICO ST-40 (which I modded a bit) My speakers : Meadowlark Swifts
  18. You really need to clean a record with that gritty stuff on it before playing it. If you play it you're more likely to lodge that crap into the grooves making your record noisy. You'll also damage your stylus.
  19. Seriously... USB turntables? WTF? Does it play through your computer? Playing a record you paid $100 for on a turntable that cost $100 is nuts. What's the point of having the body of a Ferrari but the guts of a Yugo? The unfortunate reality, 99% of the people on this board wouldn't want a higher end turntable. They're a pain in the ass. When the record is done, you have to take the needle off yourself. You need to worry about setting it up properly. But people should care about their setup. I'm sure most of the expensive vinyl on here, if it's getting played at all is being done so on beat to shit needles, being destroyed. Blah blah... This only further proves the "punk rock baseball card" theory.
  20. It's not the size of the boat, it's the motion of the ocean! Have you been the old location or the new one? They just moved into Buffalo a few months ago, and downsized more than half. However, they now have a relationship with Art Of The Underground, so they now have tons of new and different smaller stuff they wouldn't have stocked before coming in.
