good record stores don't. one of my favorite store owners (charles @ my mind's eye) was explaining how he likes to price stuff low enough to be affordable, but high enough to try to discourage ebay flippers from coming in and cleaning him out. it's unfortunate, but i guess it's just the price we collectively pay for having the ability to buy virtually any record we want without leaving the house.

keith at bark & hiss has been going crazy with the releases lately. i collect trouble books stuff, but i'm not so into the related projects. it's pretty impressive to be able to do half a dozen releases in a year and have most of them be /100.

i guess it depends which cd you have. i have the u.s. version, which omits two tracks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selected_Ambient_Works_Volume_II#Track_listing

the fact that this is missing the two vinyl only tracks also leads me to believe the master was probably just cut from a retail cd. i like to listen to my cds on cd, no reason to add surface noise and all the other hassles of vinyl

i play the mp3s or cd of an album on a laptop with the volume down if i have one of those formats as well. if not, i've gone as far as taking a random selection of mp3s, tagging them as the album i'm playing, and just playing those. i get real nerdy about my last.fm stats

darn i would have apprehensively bought a bootleg if it had the full track listing.

i got caetano veloso - transa over the summer along with quasi-recent reissues of stuff by claudine longet, pierre henry, & babes in toyland. it's always a strange selection, but i always look through what they have in-store

i end up seeing my handwriting photographed by others all the time online. it always weirds me out but i guess i do hand-label a hundred or two individual test pressings on a weekly basis

so i'm assuming this will have the two tracks that aren't on the u.s. cd version? it might justify my buying it, plus it'll look good with my drukqs box set

glad i sold the three records recently for a combined sum of ~$200, but maybe could have gotten more if i would have waited til this week to ebay them. regardless, the first thing i thought when i saw the reunion news was that some reissues have to be on the horizon.

move your speakers farther away from the TT

if it goes away completely when you turn the volume and/or bass down it could be low frequency feedback coming back through your needle from the speakers. the needle is essentially like a microphone or guitar pickup in that respect. i get this sometimes when i dj and it's quite annoying. the only thing i can think of is to get your turntable farther away from your speakers.

This is on my list, I want it so bad. How is it overall? With 5 LP's, it's a lot to digest! i can't complain too much but there are a couple sound issues, namely single pops (sometimes, but not often on several revolutions)... but the records aren't noisy or anything most of the time. the mastering and packaging is all just great. i even got the bonus live lp and i can't imagine it not being part of the set. gotten through 3-ish of the 6 lps so far and i'm loving it. not sure how i'll fare through the gospel portion, though.

just got two of those $19.99 expedit 2x2's set up, so here's the side of the room with the records:

yeah i think i've seen this in person and it won't hold records, unless the target brand stuff has changed sizes. they do sell plastic cubes that hold records, but they don't stack well at all.

i have no clue what the labels call the random color stuff once it leaves our plant. if you got one that is just a few different colors marbled together, it's technically the same variant as whatever 'haze' thing they had listed.

Cool you got some fist press numbers too? 333 red/orange/little white (just mixed, basically a red/orange color) 333 black w/ stripe 333 black/orange split

2nd press numbers: 200 ORANGE/BLUE SPLIT 100 ORANGE WITH BLUE SPLATTER 150 Vinyl bong (random color)
