  1. i like how they say the first two songs are great and that the third song has a name
  2. i love that the example record is jim guthrie's "now, more than ever." great record. also, last time i was at target they had frames that closed magnetically for easy access. i think they were less than $20
  3. that's one of the ones with a subtler version of the effect. i don't think we're going to be offering it in as high of quantities in the future because it's hard to get consistent over more than just a few dozen
  4. in the late 90's i had a small stack of stuff i had gotten at my high school job in a record shop... the s/t suicide lp w/ a flexi inside, some thrill kill cult stuff, a few other records i'm forgetting. anyway, i was 17 or 18 and a complete idiot, so i left the records in my trunk all day in the middle of july. when i got to the store i was going to sell them to, they were all completely trashed... the most warped records i'd ever seen. i left em at the store, i'm sure they flattened them out a bit, but it was the one and only time i ever subjected records to inappropriate heat.
  5. all three variants exist, the black w/ stripe records were just the last ones pressed. they look similar to the test pressing picture earlier in the thread but if i recall the stripes are mostly white/red/orange-ish
  6. you guys listen to so many records at once! i only do one at a time. here's the current one:
  7. picked up the mighty clouds s/t lp today... didn't even know this band existed, but saturday looks good to me is one of my favorites.
  8. the sonic youth 12" has a fun nirvana sticker in it for the nevermind 20th anniversary
  9. picked up: james blake - s/t lp flying lotus - alt takes lp sonic youth - whore's moaning 12" ep bibio/clark 12" v/a - kill rock stars lp wanted the nirvana, lower dens, wild flag and arthur russell rsd releases but no such luck. might pick up some leftovers when i work at the store today.
  10. The Lakewood Exchange had it but I for whatever reason decided not to grab it. music saves didn't get a single copy of this, even the employees didn't get any.
  11. i got four records without spending any money love helping out at a store for under the table credit
  12. but yeah, Charles is such a great business owner. he's snobby, but in a fun, approachable way
  13. Hopefully their owner is actually friendly to you. She has been rude to me every time I've shopped in her store, dating back to when it first opened. I have no problem taking my business elsewhere, like My Minds Eye. Charles is a great guy. I know, I know... I've been pulling random shifts here and there since 2006 and even did 10-15 hours a week back when gotta groove was first starting. she makes more sense if you're a regular, but I don't think she had any retail experience before opening the store and she has some kind of unique ideas about what to carry, etc. you're not the first person I've heard that from. her (now ex) husband that opened the store with her, myself, and the one other employee are all much more chill guys. if there's a guy behind the counter, it's a much more approachable store.
  14. i'll be working at music saves
  15. yep, I talked to Matt from Gotta Groove yesterday about them being busy for RSD and he mentioned they had a 7" press working overtime. i've been there so many saturdays because of this
  16. my wife and I recorded and released a 7" as the favor each person at the reception got. we danced to the a-side (a cover) and played the b-side on our wedding band's gear
  17. oh I was just going by the numbers they gave us when they had us press it
  18. i always just use a microfiber cloth. you can buy several for a buck or two at any car parts store
  19. if your local store is on top of their game, they may have their own system set up to let people know what they're getting, but there is no central list. the store i help out at put their list up just yesterday.
  20. my favorite dirt cheap stuff is enoch light or anything he was involved with. you won't find some of the stuff cheap (like the free design, their stuff is way overpriced now), but enoch's solo stuff is great music from the very first wave of hi-fi.
  21. it was real easy to find the 80's island stuff like swordfishtrombones and rain dogs before mule variations came out. i think i paid a buck or two each for my copies of those.
