Damn, missed out on the Bannon. You turn your head away for one minute ...

Unorthodox just turned 25. I'm working on some fun things for this, coming in the not too far future.
Nice. No disrespect to the classics, but Unorthodox is one of my all-time favorite hardcore records to come out of NYC. I probably still know the words to most of the songs.

In case one of you is still looking for that Spy 7":

The Chisel - Retaliation repress has been up for a day or two, blue /200 still available: https://lavidaesunmus.bandcamp.com/album/retaliation

Hourglass discography up: https://immigrantsunrecords.merchnow.com/

$15 for a 7"? That's the antithesis of punk rock. Damn.

I'd be happy to settle for Fused Together (although that's on Robotic, but why not) and Clients. I used to see those guys live a bunch around the time those two records came out and then kinda lost interest. I should actually revisit the other two.

I really can't wait to see Age of Apocalypse live, I can only imagine how crushing they sound on stage. Great mix of Only Living Witness and Life of Agony with a little extra 90s crossover sauce mixed in.

The Red Chord is confirmed for this June's Metal & Beer Fest. Perhaps we'll finally see a release of their discography on vinyl on the occasion!

They are pressing a LOT of units of this release, around 10k it looks like. Pretty astonishing for a supergroup side project, despite the relative popularity of Amenra and Neurosis. I applaud the optimism (and I like the preview track, I bought it instantly), but so far only the tri-color merge /237 has sold out.
-
Looks like the DW Red/ Black mix /300 is also available (again?).
Will definitely be at the Brooklyn show. And I wouldn't be surprised if they add a second if the first one sells fast.

I just got my copy of H&G with the numbered Paul Romano wrap from Revolver and it looks really fucking good in person, especially the silver ink. Glad I went for it. It's still available if anyone's on the fence: https://shop.revolvermag.com/products/mastodon-hushed-and-grim-2lp?_pos=16&_sid=efec4f250&_ss=r

Sorry, still new here. Last time I posted a link someone insinuated that I was making it too easy for bots haha.

Isle of Wisdom preorders are live from the band's webshop (black only) and Napalm Records (purple and marble w slipmat).
Really looking forward to this! Conundrum was one of my surprise discoveries of 2020 and the first single from the new album sounds like a continuation of the sound.

I'm gonna take a wild, wild stab at this ... could it be that vinyl production is delayed? Relax.

Hmm, I can't find the old Blue Collar site anymore. There's a printer called Blue Collar based in Lawrence, KS, perhaps that's what became of BCI? (Wasn't it run by Sean Ingram? At least that's what I always assumed.)
Oxbow has a merchtable store, but no vinyl left.
-
Yeah can't imagine it would look better than the tri-color, even if it's matching colors.

Rarewaves order refunded due to inventory error haha. Womp womp. Repress in 8-10 weeks though.

Good one, ordered. Now I just need to find a copy of Thin Black Duke ...

True, Sing My Loves was a great addition to the set list.

Antenna is an interesting turning point in Cave In's discography. At the time it came out, it turned off a lot of old fans because the record was trying very hard to appeal to a wider audience. Because that's what you're supposed to do when you are on a major label. It was supposed to be Cave In's Glow On--they did a late show appearance, they played festivals, they released singles. But then when record sales didn't meet the label's expectations, they got dropped like a hot potato. (At that time, selling 100K units was considered a failure I guess. I remember that number being bandied about.) And it seemed like the band went through a phase of real disillusionment and took a while to recover artistically. Long story short, it was a disappointment.
But here's the thing--Antenna really *is* a great record. Sure, there's a lot of streamlined verse-chorus-verse songwriting by old Cave In standards, but it also has a lot of great hooks. Joy Opposites and Youth Overrided alone make it worthwhile digging into this thing. I don't think that all of Cave In's discography is equally worth celebrating. Naturally there've been some relative duds. There are some songs on Antenna that I feel pretty lukewarm about. But I've definitely come around big time to Antenna as a whole and it's cool to see that this is very much a shared sentiment these days.

Just saw this on Reddit: https://www.vinyltap.co.uk/wb0075678644436-glow-on
Looks like they also have Time & Space and Nonstop Feeling in stock.

I could never get into White Silence. Tbh when I first listened to it I thought there was something wrong with my copy haha. They also don't seem to play those songs live. But I'll have to give it another listen later.
