  1. Laurel is one of those characters you know will not die throughout the entire show. The flashbacks did serve the purpose of showing us where the nasty scars on his back came from this week.
  2. Who do you think is in the grave? I'm guessing Diggle. If not him, Lance.
  3. I don't think that every great movie gets nominated for a best picture Oscar (not even close) but if something does, I believe it is at least a pretty good movie. Although the "nominated" accolade has been watered down with the 10 nominees, but Avatar was really close to winning that year. I think most people were surprised that Hurt Locker took it.
  4. Entitled to your opinion but I will always disagree when someone calls a best-picture nominee a bad movie, even if it didn't resonate with me. I'll drop it now to not derail the thread.
  5. Thanks for the super detailed post. I've watched all these shows from the beginning (made this thread). Since I don't have cable I just wanted to make sure I had the right order going forward. Looks like I did.
  6. Absolutely agree with your first point. I just thought avatar was a very good movie. Kinda surprised that it seems to not be well liked amongst this group.
  7. I'm supposed to watch Flash, then Arrow, then Legends, right?
  8. It did http://www.openculture.com/2014/05/how-star-wars-borrowed-from-akira-kurosawas-great-samurai-films.html
  9. It would be pretty cool to get to name a planet. Don't really find it to be exciting news, though. There's tons of junk out there in the solar system. Finding a new planet (even a large one) doesn't really advance our knowledge of the universe in any way, which is what the big discoveries do.
  10. Funny to be talking about the Avatar being unoriginal in the thread for the Force Awakens.
  11. When I was doing OKC 9 months ago it had a tinder-like interface where you just swept right/left for yes/no.
  12. My cousin met her husband on MySpace. It always sounds weird to hear that because I never thought dudes were randomly messaging women on there for dates but I guess so. It was right near the end of when MySpace was popular.
  13. Keep okc, pof, and/or tinder (whatever you like the best) on top of match. It doesn't hurt anything to keep a profile up there. If women "like" you, the sites seem to bring them to the top of your list. You can sort through these with just 10 minutes or so every week or two. Doesn't have to be a big commitment. Also, you never know if that long lost crush from high school or an old job is going to see you and message. Just increase your odds by increasing your footprint. There's also the strategy of swiping right to everyone and sorting through what comes back. I've been seeing my GF for about 9 months. Found her with this technique. Match is worth it for a little while but if you feel like you've gone through all the girls in your general area with no luck, it's not worth staying on there for the trickle of new sign ups given the cost. Just my opinion.
  14. Was that deathstroke in there for about 1/4 of a second?
  15. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but they did the right move starting with Arrow and then bringing in Flash. Flash's superpowers really upstage Oliver's abilities. If you were already invested in 2 seasons of Arrow before Flash existed, it's probably easier to enjoy.
  16. Tigers sign Justin Upton for 6 years? That came out of nowhere
  17. Literally no space to bring it inside? Do you have a friend or family member who lives close and would let you use their basement? Can you buy a 3 month gym membership? Lifting in negative temps sounds like a good way to injure yourself. Taking the winter off is definitely not the answer either.
  18. Failure is part of the game (this is what the stronglifts app tells you when you miss a set). I've thought about messing around with microplates but haven't bought them yet. 5 pound increments seems to work well enough for me on the squat, deadlift, bench but hitting a personal record on the overhead press and then trying to add 5 pounds the next week just seems like I'm pretty guaranteed to fail. It's only 2% increase or so on the heavy lifts but it's twice as much relative weight on the smaller lifts. When I'm not sure if I'm going to make it I take an extra minute in between sets (4 minute rest instead of 3). There have been a few times I thought I was done and made it through just toughening up and focusing. If I KNOW I'm not going to make it, I reduce it down to sets of 3. The reduced volume definitely helps to aid recovery and put me in a better spot next week to try again. So far I haven't missed 2 times in a row with this approach.
  19. If we could put it to vote I think VC would deem you being a homer. Not that we aren't all homers once in a while, though.
  20. I've grown to really like that Stronglifts app. It's nothing you couldn't do with pencil, paper, and a watch but the timer, the fixed workout, recognizing missed reps and suggesting what to do, recognizing that if you took a week off you should dial it back a little and not try and pick up right where you left off, etc.. It really takes the thinking out of it and lets you just focus on adding a little weight each workout and fighting through that last set. I do think the ramp-up period is a little too long. I think I put in a 5 rep max of 275 (or something in that range) and it starts you doing a 5x5 at 120. I understand the importance of starting lighter and working slowly up to new personal bests but the ramp-up is just too long. It feels like a waste of time to start that low. I wouldn't fault anyone for skipping some initial workouts (starting at something like 150 and going from there). It's still starting light and leaving room to grow, which is the important principle. The other thing I find is that I just can't stick to the M/W/F routine. My legs still haven't recovered after 2 days from a heavy lift and I need an extra day or two. But other than those tweaks, doing well with it. Hit 270x5x5 today. Kinda tempted to go for a 1 rep max because I've never crossed 300 lbs but eff it, I'll get there in a month or so.
  21. Bummer man. Channel it into songwriting. Not that you asked for advice but anyways, quit with the messages. No one has ever fixed a breakup with a text. Just remember the only way to fix it is to give space, renormalize, then see where things stand. She may come to realize she made a mistake and want to try again. It's far from a sure thing but it's your best and only chance.
