  2. Hello, So, for those members that are tired of my whining about sharing this hobby to others outside the hobby and blogs and blah, blah, blah, well so am I. There is no way to delete stupid\embarrassing posts, so I just stopped following those posts of mine. I apologize to anyone I annoyed or offended. The Hobby Blog and sharing the hobby those are things I have been obsessing over in both this hobby and my coin collecting hobby. I’m driving myself crazy and driving my family up the wall. I’ll be working on this with my therapist next week (that’s not a sarcastic comment or joke, it is the truth.) Speaking of sarcasm, I notice that happens a lot on this forum. I’m not trying to be annoying; I just want to learn. I thought a forum such as this would be a supportive place for questions and stuff. As I mentioned I have been doing the same thing on the coin collecting forum as here, but they were able to supportively reel me in and help me focus on what’s important and a hobby blog and sharing the hobby with those outside the hobby are not important. Regarding a few things others have said: @Han Solo, I agree! @Shelby I don’t have NPD I was just getting defensive and being a jerk. @Sad Heart, I’m seriously trying. I’d like to just start over in hopes that I can find helpful support and camaraderie here. I just got some new records that I wanted to share. I did some research on picture discs and for the most part found that lots of people aren't fans of them for various reasons, I'm not because I think they sound horrible. Before finding this out I had bought 3 albums on picture disc. Thriller - Michael Jackson Purple Rain - Prince Bad - Michael Jackson After finding this out I went to my local record store and turned them in for store credit. I took a huge loss but was able to use the store credit to purchase a black vinyl copy of Michael Jackson's Bad album and after cleaning it I played it and it sounds amazing. Now, to find to find the other two listed above on black vinyl. Also, for Father's Day my wife got me Elton John's Diamonds album which is a very good selection of his songs. We went to the local mall last night and I added more albums to my Discogs want list. October - U2 Daydream - Mariah Carey The Biggest hits - Tim McGraw Thriller - Michael Jackson Greatest Hits - Guns N roses Thank You, Rich

There is no way to delete stupid\embarrassing posts so I just stopped following those posts of mine. So, let's do this. I just got some new vinyl that I had to share. Now, to find Michael Jackson's Thriller (which I saw a few different local places) and Prince's Purple Rain. Also, for Father's Day my wife got me Elton John's Diamonds album. So, I'm happy Rich
  4. I found a few reputable dealers on Discogs, Amazon seems OK, if they have what I'm looking for. Artists I have in my collection so far: U2, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Tom Petty, Poison, Elton John. The Doobie Brothers, Queen, Whitney Houston, Metallica, Janet Jackson and Billy Joel. Not sure if this is relevant or helpful aat this point but I think I'm on the right track.
  5. Yeah, I don't see that happening anytime soon but thanks for playing!
  6. TikTok, that's genius and worth a shot. HAHAHAHAHA I can't because then I wouldn't be able to help my customers with their computer problems and then I won't get paid and if I don't get paid I don't have money to buy records.
  7. @rooks I'm not sure if that was sarcastic or sincere but I appreciate the feedback.
  8. Hello, I have been thinking about starting a blog for my two hobbies, coin collecting and vinyl record collecting. I have been looking for a creative outlet to share these hobbies and I was thinking a blog maybe it. I love to write. I have had a family newsletter going for 13 years. I have zero confidence in doing a blog though because there are so many questions. Who would possibly read my blog? How do I let people know it is there? Do I just write about my experiences and knowledge? Do I treat it like the reader knows nothing about these hobbies and provide facts or just provide websites to look up the facts on their own or both? Would it be considered appropriate to link to my blog posts on forums? All the research that I have done on blogging talks about businesses and reaching customers and monetizing, ugh! I have no interest in these things I just want people who share these interests to be able to read my blog and know there is at least one other person out there who enjoys what they enjoy and if they’re new to either hobby perhaps I can help. I already have a platform setup on blogger.com, but I have no idea how good, bad or ugly it is because I haven’t done anything with it. I have most of a first blog post written I just need to put it all together and hit the button. Does anyone have any thoughts, comments, words of encouragement, things not to do, etc.? Anything would be appreciated. Thank You, Rich
  9. I can't create an account at src and their customer service hasn't responded to my requests.
  10. Hello, I'm looking for different places to buy vinyl. I love going to my local record shop but they rarely have what I'm looking for. I'm OK with buying vinyl from Amazon online if I can find it but what about Discogs? I'm a little weary because of known scams plus I don't know what else to look for aside from normal things like seller rating, comments and that kind of thing. I'm sure Discogs will have a lot of what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any advice or comments? Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Rich
  11. @DarrenMcCallI don't have any social media accounts. I used to like YouTube but I usually kept stuff unlisted because I knew the chances of getting even 10 public views was a long shot. To be fair and honest I'm a perfectionist who likes and wants things to be easy and perfect right away, as we know, life doesn't work that way. Since my YouTube channel wasn't meeting my standards (which, by the way, I was basing on professional YouTube channels) I got super frustrated and just stopped. The one YouTube channel I really like is more than likely monetized, which I was never wanting for myself, and the guy who runs that particular channel more than likely has the time, resources, money and patience to post a new YouTube video every week. I have none of those things. Take everything I just said about my YouTube channel "failing" and apply that to the podcast, newsletter and website I tried. Also, all of this applies to my other hobby of coin collecting as I tried combining the 2 hobbies for the YouTube channel, podcast, newsletter and website. Because I got easily frustrated with everything mentioned above fairy quickly I didn't do any of it for more than a couple months. I like @mitchard's suggestion of posting on message boards for this hobby and doing the same for my other hobby. Thank You, Rich
  12. Hello, What's the best way to share this hobby with the general public? I have tried a YouTube channel and failed. I tried a newsletter, podcast and website and all of those failed. There are a few great YouTube channels by people who have the time and equipment to produce them, which I have neither, same with podcasts. I'm not sure if I should try sharing with the general public since everything I have tried has failed, that's how I ended up on this message board community. I figure if nothing else I can talk about my hobby here. Am i weird and crazy for trying all of those things? Thoughts? Opinions? Please be funny if you're going to be a smart ass or mean. Thank You, Rich
  13. Hello, I'm noticing ads in my post that are messing up the formatting and making them hard to read. Also, can posts be deleted after posting or just modified? Thank You, Rich
  14. Hello, I have a method of cleaning my vinyl that I use. A homemade solution consisting of 1 part distilled water, 1 part white vinegar and a small drop of dish soap. I shook that up in a spray bottle and spray that on a micro fiber cloth, although I have heard of people spraying cleaning solution directly on the record. I tried that and made a huge mess. This solution should last me longer than the small commercial bottles because the full spray bottle is 32 ounces. I haven't seen any negative impact on my records yet, does anybody else use a homemade record cleaning solution? Thank You, Rich
