  1. Ambulance - I see you're from Fredericksburg - I live in Fairfax. What county was the show in/what was the name of the development? Sounds like something I'd hear about in Loudon in all of the new monster developments there... kind of cool that kids in that development were able to organize something like that.
  2. I'm not surprised PlayMPE was compromised. I've been getting promos from it almost two years now and the software is extremely buggy. The first version of it was one of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever dealt with. Originally, if you were streaming a record, there was no pause feature, just stop, which reset the entire stream.
  3. Truth. When I was listening to this album I was thinking that this will be my "parent" music. When I have kids this is what I'll be listening to when they are in the car. I'll hold off on Converge and Alkaline Trio until they are teenagers. Funny post. Being a parent of a 2 year old, I think the same way about what music to keep in the car. Unfortunately I usually lose out to Sesame Street and Wiggles CDs...
  4. I figured it might be down that path. I'd just be disappointed if it included some ugly stereotypes or old world canards. It's an interesting choice of words to put together for a song title.
  5. I'm hoping to get the Incredible next week. First foray into keyboard-less phone for me, but it just has so many positives.
  6. Just curious. What is the song "The New Jew" about?
  7. 3/5 of Over It and Ryan from Don't Look Down. It's umm... different.
  8. I know you're being sarcastic, but is it any different than say an unpaid law clerk internship (I know you're a lawyer as well) that could lead to better job prospects down the road? I definitely paid my dues in that arena...
  9. They've long been known for being on top of their merch, online ordering, etc. operations, and take a lot of pride in this area. On the press side of things, they have been by far one of the easiest labels to work with and know how to do their jobs.
  10. I use Tunecore for our handful of digital reissues. Anyone can sign up and have their music distributed, there's no pre-approval like IODA. They service about 17 or so stores worldwide including all of the important ones. The interface was extremely was designed to upload music and art and to select stores and the cost is prominently displayed on the screen as you select various options so you always know what is going on.
  11. I think it was part of the Android 2.1 update that is being rolled out OTA
  12. SCF is definitely worth seeing. Was always a treat to see when they were around. It's the original line-up too.
  13. Ignite's 'Our Darkest Days' ... the relentless amount of sing-alongs almost instantly make me forget about whatever was bothering me.
  14. Maybe it's stating the obvious given the board affiliation, but couldn't this be a true milestone release for Suburban Home/VC?
  15. I second labels using Word Press and keeping a MySpace page for media purposes. Sean @ The New Language does very nice work for labels using WP.
  16. I still buy the occasional CD in Best Buy or Target if I'm already there and something catches my eye for $7.99, but that's rare. Now that eMusic has significantly bulked up its catalog, it's still much cheaper to buy music through there.
  17. Sounds like any awesome time to me - probably gonna be at Verizon Center in DC. Whooo.
  18. Their most recent album just seemed less inspired. They sounded tired musically. It happens...
  19. I'm no stranger to being owed money by labels; I did all of the ad bookings for Pastepunk for about six years and it was no picnic getting paid, so I sympathize with the late payments. After not paying me for seven months, a very large label once asked me over the phone, "why is this so important to you?" One band booked a multi-month banner, and half a year later said to me, "I not going to pay for the banner. We need all of our band money for touring." So believe me, I understand. But there's a huge difference between delayed payments for 'bad times' and maybe even just being in a difficult position of being temporarily overextended, versus totally being silent on everything and just saying 'fuck you' to your obligations and not owning up to it. Maybe there's more going on... I don't know. But I have known Virgil for 10 years and have had business relationships with him (our compilations, shirts, and mugs went through SH), and it bothers me when people assert nefarious motives to his business or otherwise.
  20. It's interesting how there's such a double standard for record labels or distros when it comes to financial issues. If you had a favorite pizza shop and found out that the owner was having trouble making his rent b/c of the economy or because maybe the pizza place spent too much money on a renovation that maybe bigger than necessary, would you stop supporting the shop? Would the pizza not taste as good? And did someone really compare this to Enron?!? I imagine that the only people who honestly wish Virgil and company to enter a death spiral w/ their business are people that have never ever had the responsibility of running a company or supporting themselves or others.
