The Streets - Everything is Borrowed
kidamnesiac replied to kirbypuckett's topic in Everything Else Message Board
after a first run through the record, my initial impression is that it's easily the most listenable thing he's ever done. like FL1CK3R, i find the streets hard to listen to more than one or two songs in a sitting. everything is borrowed is a lot more toned down. chill. i like it a lot. but i know there will be streets fans that hate it. -
Harvey Dent debate solved according to MTV

...did i miss something? there's been nothing even resembling an announcement for a dark knight sequel yet. what's all this fuss? -
seriously been into thursday since waiting. stoked for this split. for the longest time, war all the time didn't move me as much as the full collapse, but going back and listening to them now, the overall feel of war all the time is better. better recording, better mixing, and better songwriting in my opinion. if full collapse had a better budget and didn't sound like it was mixed in a bathroom or something, it might have a chance to stand toe to toe with war all the time. but its just a poor recording by comparison. though i'm not an expert on the subject, it's possible that the songs weren't mastered properly for vinyl and are just slapped on from the cd master. smashing pumpkins machina is a classic wall of sound recording and sounds lovely on wax.

I wish the Smashing Pumpkins were still good.
kidamnesiac replied to ronniethebear's topic in Everything Else Message Board
smashing pumpkins have always been one of my favorite bands. i'll agree that zeitgeist isn't their best work, but saying that it's no longer the pumpkins or zwan 2.0 is just not right. i've always felt that the smashing pumpkins were billy and jimmy. on the recording and writing end of things, at least. james, i guess, wrote a few of the pumpkins great songs back in the day, but d'arcy? i guess i am disappointed to not have them all together in a way. but i'm so stoked that billy and jimmy now are. and zeitgeist is pumpkins. just not best pumpkins. saw them on their latest tour. amazing show. hearing starla played live was almost the highlight of my life. -
Home made t-shirts...
kidamnesiac replied to heavyheavylowlow's topic in Everything Else Message Board
screen printing is actually really inexpensive to get in to and looks a lot more professional than stencil work. it's really simple and so fun. i've been designing and printing my and several friends' bands' t-shirts for years. a quick google search revealed this basic tutorial: http://shannon-palmer.com/blog/2008/04/02/screen-printing-tutorial/ do yourself a favor and try it! -
wow. well you spend an awful lot of time on a vinyl message board for being what i might consider a "casual" vinyl collector.

pretty much anything i listen to these days is available on vinyl. if it's not, i'll download it and buy a shirt or go see the band live. as for finding a download link, five seconds of my time to do a google blog search is worth saving the two dollars to me. most vinyl comes with download links anyway. the only time i listen to digital music is in my car or when i ride my bike or show something on my ipod to a friend at their house. and it's okay to me that it's compressed a bit. it just needs to sound good enough to get me jammin on the way to work. for the uncompressed true music experience, i sit in front of my turntable and crank the volume nob. so give me a cd with my vinyl for no extra cost to me? cool. make me pay for it and i'll opt out thanks.

Fear Before The March Of Flames fall tour
kidamnesiac replied to jhulud's topic in Everything Else Message Board
oh man, last time they played blackfoot was unreal!!! so stoked for this. i'm gonna email them right now and see if i can't help them get the venue booked and handle some promotion this time around. there were only 30-40 kids at the show a few months ago. -
haha that band played in my town a few months back. yeah they are pretty shitty. i went and asked them at their merch table, "okay you guys. why the hell'd you name your band after an against me song?" they claimed that they've had the band name since long before the song was out. i call bullshit.

i already posted about my band a little while back, but maybe some of you's haven't heard it yet. http://www.myspace.com/torussia

b-sides that are better than the records?
kidamnesiac replied to lokithelion's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Revision: Every Weezer B-side pre-2001. Although I will say that "I Do" is one of my favorite Weezer songs EVER and blows away every song on the Green Album. Were there any B-sides at all for Make Believe or Maladroit outside of live tracks? I don't think I have any. a fully realised and produced version of living without you was a bonus track on the european release of maladroit. -
Radiohead to score new Palahniuk film
kidamnesiac replied to kirbypuckett's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Bogus. "In an interview early this Morning on BBC 6 Music’s breakfast show, author Chuck Palahniuk ‘revealed’ that Radiohead did the score for the film adaption of his novel ‘Choke’. Industry sources deny the band’s score for the film. The film, directed by Clark Gregg, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year featuring a score by Nathan Larson (of Shudder To Think) and that hasn’t changed. The film however does have a Radiohead song in the film’s closing credits, which is ‘Reckoner’ from the band’s latest album ‘In Rainbows’. Movie score specialists The Playlist have received a confirmation on this from the music supervisors on the film, Ken Weinstein and Lyle Hysen. Chuck Palahniuk apparently made a mistake in the interview this morning, but it was an exciting feeling while it lasted. Beside’s Radiohead’s ‘Reckoner’, the Choke soundtrack includes Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! (’Satan Said Dance’), The Fiery Furnaces (’Navy Nurse’), Ben Kweller (’The Rules’), The Twilight Singers (’There’s Been An Accident’) and Rogue Wave (’Lake Michigan’)." -
