  1. http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Stripes-Elephant-Vinyl-LP-/390573278178?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item5aeffb43e2

White Stripes - Elephant for $24

I have no clue which version though... Buying one anyway just to have a copy.

EDIT: I hate when an item description is 4 pages long of return policies and shipping rates and does NOTHING to describe an item.

Googling the UPC shows its the 2003 UK press, I am sure there will be plenty of disappointed people who get it thinking its the RSD version.

  2. I would probably guess they either got them from the band or epitaph/krm sent some out to the store at the band's request.  This is purely speculation on my part.  Also I bought a copy of the pink from someone on this board and there is even a warp on the outer edge even though the pink was supposed to be the better pressing.  So in my opinion Epitaph doesn't give a shit about the quality of their color vinyl and will keep pressing their exclusive colors really flimsy, so i'll just stick to buying black epitaph releases from now on if that is an option, rather than gamble on color. /rant sorry

  4. lol you can think whatever you want . this stuff will be on here for a week then on ebay . AS you can see from my ebay i have 100 percent good feedback but i do prefer to sell off of ebay for the most when it comes to records if you think i am someone i am not or whatever thats fine move along .

    1. Your ebay account is registered shipping from Jacksonville, Florida. If that doesn't send up huge red flags I don't know what would.

    2. You are a brand new user here and your first post is to Sell/Trade/Wants, thats a little shady.

    3. Also I wouldn't brag about your feedback from 10 items sold on ebay in the past week it shouldn't be a huge signal of assurance to buyers here.  Especially since only one of those items went for +$25.

    4. You reply very similarly to the way dontbelievethehype did, same style of writing and a little arrogant.

Props to jeremybentham for giving everyone the heads up. BUYER BEWARE

  5. this was repressed?

Not yet but Sabot/Total Treble is supposed to be putting it out sometime apparently.  It seems like it takes a while between releases though, so I dunno when this will be officially repressed by them.

Also I think a band member mentioned something about a Tennessee tour, where they would play the album in its entirety or whatever and you would think it would be a good time to have a repressing of this while that is going on.

  6. Well there are people that still actually buy non-vinyl products from Hot Topic.  From here on out they'll be able to purchase glow in the dark rimmed glasses and adventure time condoms or whatever the hell they sell these days

Whoa, whoa, whoa!!! Condoms? C'mon now this isn't Spencers we're talking about.

Also this isn't about preventing flipping at all. Vinyl is costly to produce, so there isn't as much as a profit to be gained when selling it.  They were probably selling some records at or below cost during these sales, which means they weren't making money, hence why they stopped this little loophole all together.  Also people who were buying vinyl during these sales most likely were buying only vinyl, so they weren't recouping the cost from other stuff normal customers would buy that is marked up a good deal.

  7. however, fuckyourusername,

    1. you post in other parts of the boards besides sales/trades/wants

    2. you didn't immediately start a sale thread listing rare variants/oop records

    3. you aren't offended by mistrust

    4. you don't write in random lower case to upper case writing, complete with misspellings and insane grammar. (sorry to international posters, but it reminds me of the oldest internet scam in history, the nigerian prince offering you millions. or he's like 14 and gives no fucks)

    5. you don't have a sketchy "my paypal wasn't verified" story.

you seem game to make yourself as legit as possible.

Touche, I hope I made it clear enough with the bolded stuff that I think buying from this guy is most likely a very bad idea.  I agree this sends up a lot of red flags.  I was just trying to make the point that just because someone doesn't have an eBay/discogs/deadformat account doesn't mean they cannot still accumulate a sizable and valuable collection.  My point wasn't that everyone should feel confident buying from this guy.  Also the fact that he doesn't like eBay but still will use Paypal is questionable too, I've heard stories of Paypal screwing people over pretty badly, they are equally as bad if not alot worse than eBay. And I have officially spent too much time in this thread, sorry to people who read my posts.

  8. I understand that, but really? not a single eBay purchase? several of those variants are web-exclusive variants... and I'm finding it hard to believe that you could buy 400 records without a single one coming from eBay or discogs. or here. or dead format. or anywhere else that leaves a "trail" of feedback.

especially since, from the buyers perspective, eBay is even more safe that ordering direct from the label. not to mention how much cheaper a lot of stuff can be found on there.

but hey, maybe there are those who don't mind paying retail for every release plus sales tax.

sorry for disrupting your thread... back to your scamming. :-)

I see where you are coming from and do agree this thread is shady but at the same time I am in the same boat as this guy.  I have never sold on ebay/discogs/deadformat, I do have ebay feedback for me as a buyer but I don't think that really makes me any more trustworthy as a seller.  And in the case of most of these variants, getting these from sellers on eBay would most likely be more costly then getting it from the label/retail when it was available, for other older or out of print releases I would totally agree with you though there.  I think its harder for you to understand how this person could get this collection because you rely heavily on eBay/discogs/deadformat.  Where as this person could have signed up for the fat wreck wiki thing or just bought this stuff when for list price way back when.  I am playing devil's advocate here and do not vouch for this guy in any way.  Sorry for the wall of text.
