  1. This album grew on me big time. Really solid. I torrented it and it was a slow grower but when it hit, it hit hard. Loving it beginning to end. I then found out it's available as a 24/96 download at HDtracks. That's the format I decided to purchase. No pretty colors but I figured some of you may be interested.
  2. I imagine these are records manufactured for distribution in the UK. The practice didn't really start until records started being manufactured for the international market, which really is kind of a recent thing. They get shrinkwrappd records because that's just how they are made for everyone now in most cases
  3. Records were shrinkwrapped back well into the 1950s, sometimes as we know it with the shrink covering the entire jacket, other times the record inside was sealed in a polyethylene inner. (If you find old Columbia releases with a bag as an inner sleeve, that's what that is) But, that all of course is talking about the U.S. Records just were not shrinkwrapped over in the UK. In a lot of stores you essentially picked out a jacket and the disc/sleeve would be given to you by the clerk. Or the disc and sleeve would be in the open jacket, either one. Even up to about 15 years ago this was still the case.
  4. you're right, the gold label parlophone is extremely collectible and much more sought after in general. I should clarify, I meant most sought after for listening purposes - the one to have is Die Beatles. The reason I mention this is because if someone is looking for a parlophone listening copy, they most likely aren't going to care much which pressing it is, so one in this kinda shape would go for a nice price regardless of pressing year.
  5. This record would not have been shrink wrapped. If you ever find a shrinkwrapped copy of this, or any legitimate Beatles LP, run. That's not to say the shrinkwrapping isn't legit. This was sealed/stickered by the distributor. Didn't leave the factory like that though, so that's debatably a reseal, which adds zero value whatsoever. Actually detracts from the value because it could easily damage the thin laminated jacket. (nothing like what record sleeves most of you here are used to) The only positive is that being sealed prior to sale you still have a generally good idea of the condition of the record inside, even if it isn't truly a factory seal. Crack that fucker open and see exactly what's inside. There's a good chance it was pressed using 60's era metal, in which case you've got yourself a bit of a score, I'd see a minty unplayed tube cut UK press of this vintage selling for $100 or so. Unfortunately, the really sought after copies of please please me aren't even called please please me.
  6. I might actually be in if they gave some details on what the digital version will be like. Will it not be getting released on its own? Because I'd prefer that. Also, no word about format. $400 for the possibility of getting mp3? easy pass.
  7. Is it bad I actually wanna buy this? As a gift, I swear, but no deets on pricing
  8. This is awesome. I'll probably have to find this now. I had the biohazard 2 OST pretty much since it came out, but it's been damaged over the years so I just ordered another. Which of the songs are remixed on here? To be honest very little of that score stands out as memorable to me, but it's been well over a decade since I've heard any of it. According to vgm.db my biohazard 4 OST I bought when it was released was actually a Taiwanese bootleg (although a really nice looking one, great artwork, it had me fooled for a while) the only legit soundtrack (at the time of release) was a 2 CD set that came with a big art book. Looks gorgeous and I wanted to ditch the bootleg, so I ordered one of those too
  9. Ecco, are we talking the original soundtrack or the Sega CD version soundtrack? Somewhat obscure, but it's the tits.
  10. Unless there's any confirmation that these use the same plates, I wouldn't start putting your LPs on eBay so quickly. Hold on to them. Or better yet, you already have them so just keep them.
  11. just because this would look incredibly badass as an LP jacket Still sealed and errthang
  12. Have a few more! Hope I'm not forgetting anything. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Bela Kiss - For Those Who Don't Believe Near impossible to find mid-2000's privately distributed Long Island metal classic. There are actually fakes of this thing out there, and Amazon will be happy to sell you an mp3-sourced "CD-R on demand". The real deal almost never turns up, and if it does - it's pricey. Well, today's your lucky day because here it is. Starts with the live staple T-1000, ends with a gem of a hidden track, featuring the band conversing about bloody cysts, salami nipples, and peeing in butts. Original booklet included, I should probably scan it considering you can barley find a thumbnail of the cover online. But I won't, because I'm lazy. You can though. $30ppd Folly - Insanity Later Ska/hardcore mashup as released by Triple Crown Records in 2004. Full length debut of a band which would prove themselves as masters of tightrope walking and blurring the lines between genres. Lead by Jon Tummillo, one of the most thoroughly unique and talented vocalists in the scene. Features Don't Shoot The Piano Player & Repeat, I Repeat, Repeat $6ppd Beer: The Movie - original soundtrack Triple Crown Records release from 2003, providing the scene tunes to set the scenes of the indie film - chronicling a group of friends' beer soaked adventures across Long Island in the early 2000's. Features a slightly modified version of Your Own Disaster, as originally heard on Taking Back Sunday's 5-track demo CD-R, as well as Flying At Tree Level - the lost Deja Entendu era track from Brand New. Completionist collectors apply here. Also features tracks by Kevin Devine, the Movielife, Hot Rod Circuit, Crime In Stereo, Atmosphere, Moneen. It's good, I promise! $6ppd Donald Fagen - The Nightfly West Germany -03 1984ish "Target" CD Not only one of the earliest compact discs, but one of the earliest digital recordings as well. Donald Fagen's first and finest solo effort away from Steely Dan, melding technical soft rock and R&B with jazz elements and ironic retro-futurism. Considered by many to be one of the finest pop recordings ever made, and this disc is considered by many to be it's finest and best sounding presentation. An earlier disc was made and recalled due to production error, this is the superior "-03" revision. Still fairly early as evidenced by the "Made In West Germany by Polygram" text, later shortened to "Made In West Germany" after the sale of Polygram. Full metal up to the center like they did so well. A marvel of (30 year old) modern engineering in every sense. And of course, the distinguished red target design on the disc which drives collectors wild. $25ppd
  13. Haven't done anything about it yet. I'll try contacting the seller tomorrow afternoon. maybe they'll have some more information about it but as of now all signs point towards this being a counterfeit, sadly. I know the Game/anime ost market is something like 90% pirate product but this one shaped up to be too close to the real deal… not quite, but close enough where it was difficult to tell given whatever info was available for the legitimate issue. Pretty harrowing situation in my opinion.I'm going to take some clear photos of the whole thing and keep them as reference should I ever come face to face to something purporting to be the real deal.
  14. The thing is, there is a lot more indication that this isn't genuine than any indication that it is. And if EAC is indicating that the data on the disc has been altered so as to not be identical to the genuine product, that kind of defeats the purpose of the purchase entirely as I would not be able to enjoy it as if it were the legitimate product. In any case, on the image of the discs on VGMDB, you can oddly see part of the matrix through the front of the disc due to the uniform grey coloring. Not a lot of visibility, but enough to see that the spacing of the barcode is entirely different.
  15. It's really a shame. The entire reason I bought it was so I wouldn't have to download a bad rip in the first place. Everything you're saying is very true and exactly why I have my reservations about this thing. Even if it was properly ripped by the bootleggers, even the slightest sample offset created in writing the new glass master would throw everything off in terms of AccurateRip verification. Which is precisely what I suspect has happened here. Too many signs point to this being a fake. Of course I have some time so I would like to do as much research as I can so I don't end up making any rash claims - so if anyone has the real thing, a photo of the disc matrices would be the tell-all, if say the numbers varied or the fonts/spacing wildly differed. Maybe it's real, and then all is good in the world. Trust… but verify. It appears as if there is a 1 second gap between every track, with the exception of the standard 2 second pregap behind track one, and a 2 second gap before track 2 on disc 1. Something as simple as a known legitimate disc not having similarly written gaps would pretty much verify this as a fake.
  16. Went over every listing for that OST religiously - it appears to match the real thing, but if there are varying counterfeits out there with differing catalogue numbers - what's to stop someone from producing one which actually appears to be the real deal?Things which would help which are not shown on VGM.DB • clear photos of disc matrix • logs, crc checksums which could be used to verify the data against what's on my disc Reasons I have to believe my disc is fake • low price - red flag for a disc which used to trade for a good amount of rupees • purchased one listed as "used" to prevent getting one of the new fakes, figured I'd have a better chance of getting an older copy - the one I got was actually still sealed - another pretty big red flag • sold by Amazon cd seller with very large claim in description "NO FAKES!!! All items are authentic original Japanese release" - which sounds like something either an honest seller or a crook would say. • some aspects of the artwork appear to be blurry, some appear to be sharp • disc is recognized by EAC, but when ripping, the tracks can't be verified as accurate against what I assume are legitimate copies. Different accuraterip values are given for each track present in the database.
  17. On an unrelated note (but related to the amazon discussion) - do any of you OST collectors have a known legitimate copy of the Wind Waker OST as put out by Nintendo and Scitron Digital in 2003? I know there are a ton of fakes out there and unfortunately I don't trust the authenticity of the one I just received.
  18. I thought there might be some interest! I know rights issues may hold up any of the Banjo or DK stuff, but I've pitched the idea for Yooka-Laylee to Grant Kirkhope - if it's something the team is open to there's really nothing in their way which would prevent them from making it happen, be it on their own or by partnering with another label. They're already having OST CDs pressed up so a 2LP set wouldn't be a huge stretch for them.
  19. More on point - based on the 3 or 4 samples we've heard so far from Yooka-Laylee, how many of you would be interested in a soundtrack? It would most likely only be a 2 LP - meaning it wouldn't have everything included in game if it ends up being very expansive, but the soundtrack is set to be fully orchestrated, and as of this point in time there isn't a whole lot of (read: any) David Wise or Grant Kirkhope on wax.
  20. Not every seller will sadly and it doesn't really look like there's any indication of which ones will either, until you put it into your cart and try to check out, then remove it and try another… works best with items being sold by quite a few people :/ it could be their general policy or setting not to allow sales overseas but I suppose a thoroughly-written message couldn't hurt, you never know. Most people do want to make a sale. Just indicate you'd be more than happy to pay the shipping costs to get it to your country.
  21. I used the bing translate extension for iOS mobilesafari, and deciphering what they're saying can be tricky but it's doable. I know I've had some iffy experiences with 3rd party US Amazon sellers (unspecified damage, counterfeits) but for the most part everything has been as described on Amazon.co.JP - maybe even undergraded if anything. They really are meticulous about keeping things in good shape. Maybe only luck but it's been nothing but good experiences so far. I did have one situation where a wrong tape was sent in the outer case for the tape I actually bought, by a high-volume ex-rental video seller. At first they offered to send me another copy of the tape, but when they realized they didn't have any in their stock, they just refunded me the purchase and I was able to buy one from another seller for the same price. The language barrier didn't impede communication at all and they were very willing to help. All in all not such a bad experience.
