  1. Pro-tip: I've recently discovered the joy that is Amazon.co.jp, and if you know the catalogue number of what you're looking for, most of it can be found pretty easily. Already binge-bought a bunch of Japan only CDs laserdiscs and tapes I've wanted for ages but couldn't get in the states. They also tend to not charge collector's prices since the stuff is common on their hometurf.
  2. Sale pending - but I just remembered I had the Pennyroyal Tea/ I hate myself and want to die 7" 45RPM single from Record Store Day a couple years back. It's a facsimile of the unreleased single planned to come out in 1994. Would anyone be interested in that? $15 shipped by itself
  3. Very limited and now out of print 2009 audiophile reissue, even more limited "cream" colored vinyl. It's a very stunning milky yellow that matches the album art. Only played a handful of times. Really great, powerful sound. Crisp, clean, and ballsy. Considered by many to be the ultimate and best sounding In Utero. Mastered from the original master tapes by Bernie Grundman, pressed at RTI. Asking $65 PPD within the U.S. Will ship anywhere in the world, but lets figure out the pricing to your country first Please feel free to PM with any questions you may have!
  4. I'm curious too. Theres a video of one actually being played but the uploader cut the audio… makes sense.
  5. and you know it's really great to punch somebody right in the face
  6. I just found out a Japanese artist actually sampled/remixed one of the songs from Pokemon, but it's a song from the anime not the video game. That, and the Donna Summer 12" are the only 2 records with any official association to the pokemon franchise I know of. I had no idea this thing existed, I actually found it by checking out the links on a whosampled.com page for a Funkadelic song Pizzicato Five
  7. Lots of big fans here. Figure you might appreciate this, back when the band was still active they were working on a retrospective video-collage type thing with all these clips from live shows, TV appearances, interviews and home movies… the project was still underway when Kurt passed. Krist and Dave completed it and released it in 1994 as "Live Tonight! Sold Out!" On VHS and laserdisc. I have the laser. It's a must have. It is available on DVD but it's been re-edited so it's not really identical to the original release. It has the TOTP appearance, that video of the bouncer beating on Kurt post-stage dive, a live version of Endless Nameless… seriously seek this thing out if you can.
  8. Stated in my other post. It's been reported that its cut to play with a microgroove stylus, so it's not really a "78" so much as a record that plays at 78RPM. Your LP stylus will suffice (on this one record) That said, I can't verify this as I did not score this one on RSD :/
  9. Justin Beck is busy packing up all your lyric sheets and reissues of 10 year old emo records yall killed the joke. damnit guys…
  10. Now you guys know why you still don't have another glassjaw album
  11. Emailed Triple Crown about my download card not working but haven't received any response. Anyone else have similar luck?
  12. Were these really that hard to find? I had one in my hands on RSD, and then I was like… yeah I'm never getting $9 worth of play out of this. I gave it to the kid next to me.
  13. 78s are actually way awesome to get into, very similar to vinyl in that you would probably be very surprised how good they can sound. I'm sure before most of us seriously got into vinyl, alot of us had a seriously bad preconception of how records "sounded" due to cartoons, scratchy "record sound effects" in songs, and limited experience with crosleys. But then we all heard the real deal, right? And we know better? Well, 78's are kinda like that. We've had generations of TV programs with scratchy sound effects coming out of windup phonographs, and reissues of 78-sourced material on CD/LP that has been severely no-noised and band limited. Few of us ever have the opportunity to hear what they're really capable of. Few turntables that aren't antiquated pieces of junk even have the speed. And then there's the issue of having a proper stylus for them. They're finicky, and weird, but really wonderful and there's lots of great music that you can't get any other way, or won't sound better any other way. I strongly urge anyone who has a chance to hear one right to take that chance. If you have the speed on your turntable you're already using for LPs, go get another headshell and mount a dedicated cart on it. The TTX (or TTXUSB) that has been mentioned is probably the best choice for a serious modern 78 table without spending 4 figures on something with an outboard motor power supply which will allow you done control over the speed. Reason being that speeds were not standardized prior to 1925, and "78" could sometimes be 73, and "78" could also sometimes be 84. The LCD display on that turntable allows you to precisely calculate exactly what percentage you are changing the speed by. If you're buying a 78 turntable to play one record, well... more power to you. I hope you get more use out of it than that. Keep in mind there were reports this was not a true "78" and was actually cut for playback with a microgroove stylus - 78 stylus not necessary.
  14. The mono beatles set would have been a bargain at 3 times the price. UK monos in nice playing condition aren't abundant or cheap. Any one of those records in mint condition would likely cost you hundreds of pounds. Considerably more when you're an American who has to import them and compete with the rest of the international collector's market.
  15. Billy Joel 35DP1 is now officially sold. Aladdin & blink still currently available if anyone's interested!
  16. Picture discs are not universally bad, there are plenty of great ones out there. for music that is tied to such a visual medium it's kind of inevitable a lot of them will have a very prominent visual aspect of some sort... Picture disc makes sense for these releases. They can be pressed excellently, or pressed poorly, just like any other record. If done with care and attention these should turn out just fine.
  17. This was one of my major wants but as more days pass by, I'm more and more okay with not having it... It's whatever From what I understand, yes, the ones available now should be the new cut although no telling how long the stock has been sitting at whatever retailer you get it from. May be best to order from 3rd man lol
  18. Are the 33s numbered? I know that with the 45rpm subscription, you got the same number on all the albums - you essentially had an identical set reserved for you Not like that actually means anything
