    This has nothing to do with making sure the creators get their money, that is not how music works, that is not how the law works, that is not how the world works. Maybe it should be how it works, but for decades past, and decades into the foreseeable future, it isn't.
    This has everything to do with the content owners being paid for their property. Nintendo not owning these particular recordings probably made it much easier for a license to be obtained. The content owners have the right to allow who they choose, to use their content how they choose. It is completely irrelevant if they obtained ownership of that content by creating it or by signing a contract.
    It's totally super cool and punk-rock to say "it's for the people! We can create what we want with this. I can sell it as I please. The money should be going to the guy who wrote these songs"
    But that is not the way things work. The Easter bunny isn't real either, sorry.
    Just because the music isn't owned by who you wish owned it doesn't give you the right to bootleg it, nor does it give you a reason to discredit the work done by others to the fullest extent of the law.
    If you're this salty about an official, properly licensed release, simply because it competes with your illegal product, maybe you should just make a margarita with it, and reconsider things. Chill.

    Hi, back with my unpopular opinion - if it's something we shouldn't be talking about maybe it's something that shouldn't be done, no? Most people who plan on having bootleg records manufactured and sold also don't typically identify themselves online under various social media accounts.
    It's already been done and it's going to be discussed, these records will be sold, scratched, crosley'd, turned into bowls, really nothing we can do to control anything once it's out of the creator's mouth or hands.

    Just a quick update on the status of the TBS CDRs - both are officially SOLD and no longer available
    As for why the sale was pending for so long - I'm not sure to be honest. A member expressed their interest in purchasing both of the CDs but didn't respond to my message after that, or my other message a while later just to check if he was still interested in them. It's really a strange situation because I've sold to him in the past and the communication was excellent. After a couple of weeks passed with no word from him, I decided to sell to the next person who PMd about them. I feel bad about it as I am sure he would've liked to own these artifacts... I was pretty torn up about it. Ultimately I just hope that they are okay, wherever they are.
    All the other items in the initial post are still available.

    I apologize if you feel disappointed with my stance on this. You are correct in stating that I am trying to respect the value of the material and also whoever purchases it - I have no dire need for the physical artifact either (the only TBS thing nobody will pry away from me is my signed 1st press of TAYF)
    But also I would like to stress that I don't feel super comfortable sharing this material being that it does not exist elsewhere... you feel? Since there are parts of this that have not been heard before, and the material is owned by Victory, I'm not exactly willing to essentially "leak" it to the world.
    In the past I've shared lossless upgrades for things that have only circulated as decade-old limewire 128kbps mp3s... but this is a bit different. I have other studio stuff from other artists in my personal collection that I want to make available, trust me. Stuff that's even cooler than this. But it's a big gamble if you're taking a guess if the content owners give a fuck or not.
    Since I'd say we've heard 95% of this before I would consider sharing it for the quality upgrade - but that said, I still intend to sell the piece and I will ultimately respect the wishes of whoever purchases it because it is one of a kind. I completely understand how that can be frustrating, as a fan who wants to hear things, trust me. I've been on that side of the equation so many times. But I'm sure if any of you were considering the purchase of a rarity you would appreciate similar discretion - I know I would!
    If not this, then here's to sharing some other goodies in the near future.

    Haha, I'm glad to see there's quite a bit of interest in it.
    Normally I'm all for sharing things - some of you might remember a couple of years ago I shared a lossless version of Brand New's first demo. That said, being that the stuff on this particular disc does not already circulate - I'm kind of iffy about sharing it in any level of quality.
    I also want to respect any potential buyer's wishes that they may not want to share it for whatever reason if purchasing it... So I will leave that decision up to whoever it may be. I'm hoping you can all hear it. It's awesome.
    As for the demo CD-R... That's been all over the web and anyone can hear it if they'd like - I personally think it's much better than whatever made it onto the album too.
    I've seen other examples come up for sale and sell generally around $100, give or take 20. They don't come up very often though. I'd say this is pretty much in line with what they go for but of course I'm open to offers on everything.
    The studio CD, since it's one of a kind, we kind of have that dillema where there's no set precedent for what it might be worth. On one hand, most of us already own this album. But the disc is an original artifact. It does sound better than what has been available for many years. And some percentage of it just has not been heard before. So there's lots to consider.
    Anyhow, here's a picture of the discs. Demo on top, 1/2002 disc right next to it.

    Hahah. Are the bonus songs on iTunes too? I thought they were only on the 3 digipack CDs and the 3 7"s included with the SRC pressing of the album.
    For anyone who is curious, the yellow "Pants" disc features "What Went Wrong" and "Fuck A Dog"

    Yes, I know, evil polycarbonate and not vinylz but there are enough fans of these bands here so why not?
    Good handful of rare gems on the block today. Something for everyone, be sure to check them all out.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    1st ed. U.S. Blink 182 "Take Off Your Pants & Jacket" CD with Yellow Pants design.
    The initial release on seperate red green and yellow CDs (GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL) all have different bonus tracks at the end of the album, after 182 seconds of silence. These were available at first for a short time and were soon replaced with the standard version which had the 3 colored dots on the disc. I had the red, I had the green. Now all I have is the yellow.
    Recent check of ebay&Discogs shows NO copies of this available for sale
    This original version was packaged in a very matte digipack, die cut on the inside with booklet.
    Everything is in decent shape. Disc shows small signs of handling but overall in pretty good shape. Some marking to the back of the digipack.
    Asking $25ppd
    Taking Back Sunday - RARE TAYF 2001 Demo Cd-R
    Burned and self distributed by the band. Features early versions of songs that eventually made it onto Tell All Your Friends. Debatably superior versions/performances with parts removed from the song, notably piano and the sample at the beginning of Great Romances (it's soooo scene)
    These have travelled around the web since the KaZaA days, albeit in poor quality. Once rumored that all copies have been destroyed by the band. This was the demo which got Victory's attention and got them signed.
    Comes in a plastic outer slip with 2 sided B&W printed insert. Amp head photo on the back.
    Asking $85PPD
    Taking Back Sunday (again) - ULTRA RARE Quantegy Gold Studio reference TAYF CD-R
    "1/2002"
    Consider this an early, unfinished version of Tell All Your Friends. Very different tracklisting, for starters. The songs are the same mixes which appear on the original release, but pre-mastered - which allows for some major differences. It is possible that this CD may actually have been used in the mastering process as source material - no idea though. Just my guess as to its existence.
    The disc starts with You're So Last Summer, which notably begins with the full guitar intro to the song - this is chopped off and begins abruptly on the released CD/vinyl. The song ends naturally. Mutual Head Club, which was crossfaded with this song on the released cd, is not the next track - but it begins with the full drum intro on it's own.
    Similarly, other songs which have had their intros and endings cut, shortened, or crossfaded on the original release are complete and fully intact here, with the exception of Blue Channel, which does not feature the piano intro. The band was still unsure about this intro (it is very different on the demo!) and so it was tacked on at a later date.
    Also very notable is the sound quality - these tracks are raw and are not plagued with the over-compression and EQ which made the original releases sound so horrible. It is possibly the closest thing to an "audiophile" version of the album we'll ever get.
    In my opinion, due to all the extra parts still present here and the vastly superior sound quality, this is the definitive "Tell All Your Friends"
    This material does not circulate anywhere and this studio disc is absolutely one of a kind, unlike the other demo cd offered above which was burned in bulk and distributed at shows. This is certainly something very special.
    Disney "Aladdin" 1992 soundtrack - original RECALLED version
    Perfect compliment to your hot topic picture discs! Ultimate grailz!!!
    Early recalled version of the disc with the original lyric in opening track which refers to facial mutilation. This lyric was replaced with a line about the heat and the sun after criticism and accusations of racism. The revised disc is much more common and is what is available to this day.
    Here's one for the SUPER TRVE CD COLLECTORS
    Billy Joel - 52nd Street
    35DP 1
    Yes, ah. Laugh now. But this is a 35DP 1, straight outta Japan. A true piece of history.
    Considered to be the very first commercially released CD, from when the format was introduced in Japan 1982. Digital audio was finally upon the masses. Or at least the wealthy early adopters.
    You could find earlier CDs but those would be prototype/test/demo discs from Sony or Philips. Not something made available to the market. You probably will not encounter anything like that.
    Silver CD with CBS/Sony physical imprint in center ring.
    Disc has no major conditional issues, no pinholes, test plays absolutely perfectly. Shows very little signs of handling.
    Booklet and case insert are perfect. Features lyrics in English and Japanese.
    Jewel case is the original early "smooth" case with patent pending in raised lettering on the back. The (now standard) ridges were not regularly on the top and bottom of cd cases until 1985ish.
    Sadly, there is a light crack in the back of the original jewel case, about 2" in length, running diagonally across the tracklisting. But it is not deep. It is a "surface crack" if that makes any sense. If it were any other jewel case this would not be an issue, as they are basically replaceable/disposable. But due to the historic nature of this style of CD case, it does affect the value quite a bit.
    Asking $55 ppd for this disc
    More on point - based on the 3 or 4 samples we've heard so far from Yooka-Laylee, how many of you would be interested in a soundtrack? It would most likely only be a 2 LP - meaning it wouldn't have everything included in game if it ends up being very expansive, but the soundtrack is set to be fully orchestrated, and as of this point in time there isn't a whole lot of (read: any) David Wise or Grant Kirkhope on wax.
    this is dumb as shit. I almost want nothing to do with this and just to get the regular reissue. The only thing stopping me from putting this up on eBay is that I'll have nothing to show for that stupid ordeal lolol.
    Honest criticisms:
    The paper bags are not conducive to actually listening to a record. I'm going to have to devise some sort of way to slip everything into an outer sleeve that keeps everything together and makes everything accessible.
    The records have to go in new inner sleeves. The black ones are very heavy duty and look exceptionally nice, as nice as black matte can anyhow. But they're way too fucking tight. Like, unusable tight. But these are all going in frames anyway sooo
    Records straight out of the package are f i l t h y. Have not cleaned or played yet. Not the worst new vinyl I've seen but close to it.
    Looks like your basic Gz tech DMM cut, ie. zero effort in mastering, not excited to find out (haven't listened yet, with my luck I guarantee you I got two A/B sides too)
    Die cut looooks duuuuuuuuuuumb. This really should have been printed on the inners, and properly scaled. But that would make too much sense. I agree with the thought that the bag was a coverup hahah
    The inserts were damaged, not that I really care about a couple of stickers
    Anyway, this could have been so much more for the RSD first release. Such a lost opportunity. Special colored variants, autographs, lossless downloads, demos, an actual legitimate remastering… anything
    But hey, paper bag.
    My store had something like 40 copies, but you weren't getting one if you got there after 3AM. There were easily a few hundred people queued up but none of us knew if they had more than one until it was confirmed before opening. Pretty much everyone at the front of the line was there for this. The way it was handled was that prior to opening, they went down the line giving people a ticket just for this - the idea being that there wouldn't be a mad rush or riot in the store. They were all behind the counter waiting for you with your ticket when you check out, so that you could just make a mad dash into the store to browse and grab the "less desirable" releases first.
    I ended up buying no other releases. I had a fairly large list of "maybes" and "must haves", and turns out with a complete lack of mastering details on a lot of the titles, and no desire to actually listen to some of the others, my list was whittled down pretty rapidly. My only other "must haves" were that Elvis 10" (none of the stores in my area got any, hit a brotha up if you can help out) and also that Paul McCartney Sweet Thrash 12" which I had no chance of getting, considering it was limited to 109 copies.
    I felt bad about getting nothing else and decided to buy a glassjaw tee. It looks pretty rad. To be honest I'm more excited about the tee.
    The preceding events transpired in front of local news cameras in a piece that could be aptly retitled "kids lose their mind over a paper bag."
    See it and weep. #madeit
    Here's ebay craziness for you.
    About 7 years ago I bought that damn Jason Mraz album at my local record store, on the strength of that "I'm Yours" single. I couldn't have paid more than $12 for it. I'm not really sure what I was expecting because, quite predictably, I hated it. I listened to it once, maaaaybe twice, and put it on the shelf never to touch it again. I figured I couldn't pay anyone to take that thing off my hands, and it would just serve as a reminder of simpler times.
    I come to find out the other day that the album is being repressed due to high demand.... reealllly?
    So I throw it on the bay... Less than 4 minutes in, there are multiple watchers, and I get a message with an offer for $200 if I end the listing.
    REALLLLLLLLYYY?
    The mono beatles set would have been a bargain at 3 times the price. UK monos in nice playing condition aren't abundant or cheap. Any one of those records in mint condition would likely cost you hundreds of pounds. Considerably more when you're an American who has to import them and compete with the rest of the international collector's market.
