  1. Heads up if you ordered from Warp - they made the FLAC files available today, so make sure to grab them so you can enjoy while you await the physical to arrive.
  2. More buy 2/get 1 madness. (I really should be saving up to move.) Duran Duran - Planet Earth UK 12" Duran Duran - My Own Way UK 12" RP Duran Duran - Save A Prayer UK 12" Duran Duran - Rio (Part 2) UK 12" Duran Duran - Notorious US 12" Janet Jackson - Control (Extended Version) US 12"
  3. Pet Shop Boys - It's A Sin UK 12" Pet Shop Boys - Rent UK 12" Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind UK 12" I had been holding out for a double sleeve "It's A Sin", but these were $6 each, buy two get one free and all in very, very nice condition - the "Rent" sleeve is a little rough around the edges - so I couldn't really pass them up. Three steps closer to the impossibly daunting concept of a Complete UK 12" PSB Collection.
  4. I just got an e-mail from the local indie that they have these as giveaways with purchase of the album, so I imagine it's that. Sadly, it's not the store I bought my copy at this afternoon and I've already opened and enjoyed. I suppose I could try some sort of buy a copy and return the sealed copy to the other store but I'm not entirely sure it's worth the hassle. And that's kind of a dick move anyways.
  5. Gotye - Making Mirrors 2xLP Imperial Teen - Feel the Sound LP Pleasantly surprised to find these both locally at the same shop. It's a good day for some power(ish) pop.
  6. This is something I wondered recently - are there black copies of this? I always assumed they were all on transparent blue as mine is. 'Ferment' as well, though that one isn't as pricey. I had hoped that there would be LP repressings when the (somewhat worthless) reissue of 'Ferment' on CD came out last year but apparently that is not to be. *sigh*
  7. I initially wasn't sold on it either but picked the album and single up out of habit. It's grown on me and while it's definitely a different beast than 'Mirrored' - much closer in spirit to the early EPs - I think it's just as solid if not stronger overall than the debut now. Plus the artwork is just phenomenal. I was initially only going to get one of the "Ice Cream" 12"s - chocolate, as seen in my avatar - but ended up with all three because I hated not having the complete set more than I hated them for roping me in to buying essentially the same single three times. The remixes from the first volume are now available via YouTube and their official site. (http://bttls.com/dross-glop/) I quite like the "Wall Street" one but am not entirely sold on "Sweetie & Shag" yet.
  8. Just placed my pre-order. The nice thing about ordering through Bleep is they send FLAC files on street date - some times in advance - so you don't have to wait/buy twice to get the digital. I do wish these were on colored like the other 12"s from the album, but small gripe.
  9. I paid $65 for PJ Harvey's 'Dry'/'Demonstration' 2xLP about 10 years back. At the time I thought it was kind of outrageous but now, of course, it's looking pretty good.
  10. Temporary set up until we move in May. I like the Besta to the Expidit because it has a back and adjustable shelves. At the house I had an Expidit on either side with a speaker on each but there's no room in this apartment for that. (There's one off to the left of the image with a desk attachment but the other is elsewhere at the moment.)
  11. An absolutely gorgeous copy of 'Lonely Is An Eyesore' on LP for $10 this afternoon. It made my shitty day much, much better. Also, the 2xCD deluxe reissue of ODB's 'Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version'. The packaging is insane. Well done.
  12. Just got home with a VG sleeve/minty vinyl copy of Grace Jones' 'Muse' for $8... ...of course, it was finally released on CD a few months back, but oh well. That's probably why I found it, actually.
  13. 01 -"Meet El Beat" is one of my favorite 12" mixes - and names - ever. 02 - 'Notorious' as a whole is grossly underrated in the scheme of all things Duran.
  14. Charlotte Hatherley - The Deep Blue One of my favorites of the 2000's. Hope she comes back soon.
  15. My top 3 of the year: Mirrors - Lights & Offerings The Joy Formidable - The Big Roar The Sound of Arrows - Voyage (no LP release - boo!) Other favorites: Active Child - You Are All I See Battles - Gloss Drop Big Black Delta - BBDLP1 The Boxer Rebellion - The Cold Still (no LP release - sadface) Duran Duran - All You Need Is Now Florrie - Experiments EP Fountains of Wayne - Sky Full of Holes Gruff Rhys - Hotel Shampoo Nicola Roberts - Cinderella's Eyes (I'm surprised they didn't do some fan edition picture disc LP of this or something, it would have totally sold) Soft Metals - Soft Metals The Whip - Wired Together (no LP release - weak) Ultrasound - Welfare State/Sovereign 10" Will Young - Echoes (no LP release - no surprise) Overall, 2011 was a little underwhelming. 2012 better bring it.
  16. A friend and I have regularly said that 'Racially Yours' by the Frogs should be on a double LP - either one black one white or some kind of black/white marble. Considering how long it took to get it released in the first place, we've never held our breaths for any such thing.
  17. Just got back from NYC. I hate how everything is incredibly overpriced as a general rule in pretty much every used bin. ($20 a piece for IRS-era R.E.M. albums? Really?) That said, I did manage to finally find a good quality copies of The Family self-titled album ($7) and Ministry's 'With Sympathy' ($15) at Bleecker Bob's. Ministry was a little high, The Family a little low so they evened out, or so I thought.
  18. From Discogs: The B-52's - Wild Planet LP (my original copy was mispressed) The B-52's - Girl From Ipanema Goes To Greenland 12" The B-52's - Bouncing Off The Satellites LP Catherine Wheel - Adam and Eve 2xLP Duran Duran - Skin Trade 12" Janet Jackson - Control LP Prince - For You LP All for $26 shipped. (Of course, thanks to the Holidays it sat in a PA post office for over 10 days lost in the shuffle, but I suppose I can't really complain.)
  19. My mom bought me the Monkees 'Head' reissue on Rhino - black, not clear, the premium for the clear was a bit outrageous - and I bought myself Suede's 'The Drowners', 'Metal Mickey', 'Animal Nitrate' and 'So Young' 12"s from Discogs after searching for years and not having much luck finding good condition copies that didn't triple in price when I added in shipping. I'm content.
  20. My copy has plain white die cut sleeves, but oddly they don't match. (One has more rounded corners than the other.) My local record store at the time ordered it direct from one of their UK distributors at the time so I'm fairly certain I am the original owner, but I've never seen a new record with mismatched sleeves like that.
  21. Good to know - I was unaware of the 2009 pressing. I would totally be in for 'Smells Like Children' as well, while we're at it.
  22. I would be in for 'Antichrist' and 'Portait' easy - especially if 'Portait' is a double LP. (Aren't all originals a single LP? It's been a while since I've attempted to hunt them down.) After that I really stopped caring but those first two were HUGE for me at the time and I'd love to have nice LP copies.
  23. do you mean spaceboy? it's the only sample i know of, and it's def. on the cd version of the reissue. There's also one at the end of "Soma" as well - or, rather, was until this reissue. It's from a television evangelist: "you must resist the devil so that he. will. flee." Cue "Geek U.S.A." drums. One of my favorite segues and it's totally gone on both CD and LP.
  24. The orange vinyl version is the original pressing as I believe all of the represses from a few years ago were black. I actually found the reverse to be true when comparing - "Cherub Rock" sounded a little anemic on the 2011 vinyl but "Quiet" blew the older pressing away. (I felt the same for the CD for what it's worth.) Overall, though, the remaster on 'Siamese Dream' wasn't enough to be a clear winner - especially with the removal of the sample at the end of "Soma" - so I will probably use the earlier black vinyl pressing as my go to for the album on LP. In any case, I'm still incredibly impressed with the entire reissue program so far and anxiously await the next installment. (And you really, really need to get the 2CD/DVD sets, the extra material is phenomenal.)
  25. This isn't supposed to be out until Monday, so it was a very pleasant surprise to find it waiting for me this afternoon. (And on white vinyl as well - fantastic.)
