  1. A cassette of 'Mellon Collie' was my first copy of it as the Media Play - HA! - I went to to get it on release date had sold out of the CDs by the time I got there. I thought I still had it around somewhere, but I might have given it away when I finally got a CD copy. I had 'Gish' on cassette at one point as well. Related, I remember when it finally came out on LP, I could never find it for less than $45 and I thought to myself: "I *refuse* to pay that much for that album." (It's sheen had well worn off by the time they got around to putting the vinyl out.) Had I only known...
  2. Glad to see a US source for these - now I don't have to feel so bad dropping a ton on yet another copy of 'Betty'.
  3. They did a really good job cleaning up the demo tape - I heard things in some of the tracks (like tamborine in "Sun"!) that I'd never heard before. The glitches in the provided digital files from the official site are a bit annoying, but I'm overall pleased with the tape. The bonus disc sound is all over the place, though - "Purr Snickety" should NOT be so loud! A nice mix of stuff but not as overall impressive as the first two.
  4. For me, the basement show is the highlight of the whole set. It is nice finally having the album on double LP, though. My original UK copy has never sounded great and the reissue is a *huge* step up, as far as I'm concerned.
  5. I saw him open for Fountains of Wayne a few months back and must say I wasn't super impressed with any of the new material. That said, for $14.49 and to support him - he was always my favorite in the Pumpkins - it's worth a shot. Thanks for the heads up!
  6. Ol' Dirty Bastard featuring Kelis - Got Your Money UK 12" (with remixes I didn't even know existed - score!) SWV - Downtown / Human Nature/Right Here US 12" promo Macy Gray - The ID US LP Bjork - I Miss You (RH Factor Remixes) US 12" promo (it was a little beat up but I'd never seen one in person and it was cheap) Revolting Cocks - You Often Forget US 12" Ministry - Halloween Remix / Nature of Outtakes US 12" My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult - Some Have To Dance, Some Have To Kill... US 12" (Jesus label) James - Stutter US LP Prince - Controversy US LP with poster (finally for a decent price...$2.99, I think) Madonna - Drowned World/Substitute For Love UK CD1 Madonna - Dear Jessie UK CDS picture disc Dusty Springfield - In Private UK CDS Dusty Springfield - Nothing Has Been Proved UK CDS There was also a copy of the Sugarcubes CD-6 boxset for $20 that I passed on, regretted, but when I went back a few days later it was (unsurprisingly) gone. Oh well.
  7. Now that this has been out for a while, has anyone seen a red copy? Everyone here seems to have gotten blue, and anyone else I've asked elsewhere received the same. I would think by now a red copy would have popped up somewhere.
  8. Someone posted the back cover image on Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=3731972 Looks fantastic. I think I'm even more excited for this one than I was the first two.
  9. So perhaps foolishly, I pre-ordered direct from the band this time - I had went the Amazon route for the last batch but figured they couldn't possibly have that massive a screw up a second time, right? And with shipping to get it here for release date, it actually worked out the cheaper route. Anyways, I just got an e-mail that both the CD/DVD set and vinyl shipped today. Score! Still can't download the demo tracks until Tuesday, but that's not anything I haven't heard before. (For the record, today was the last day they could guarantee arrival for release date delivery.)
  10. So are we to assume to fancy foiling process this time? That's kind of a bummer - packaging consistency, people!
  11. Thursday: The Men - Open Your Heart LP Lowgold - Mercury 7" (for a whole $2) Friday: (aka Good Day at the $1 Bin) Corey Hart - Everything In My Heart US 7" Duran Duran - Is There Something I Should Know? UK 12" Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Liverpool US LP Madonna - Borderline (New Mix) / Lucky Star (New Mix) US 12" Prince - Let's Pretend We're Married US 12" Prince & The Revolution - Let's Go Crazy / Erotic City US 7" Prince - I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man / Hot Thing US 7" Prince - Batdance / 200 Balloons US 7" Prince - Batdance (The Batmix) US 12" Prince - The Scandalous Sex Suite US 12" Tears For Fears - Mothers Talk (Extended Mix) UK 12" Wendy and Lisa - Waterfall US 7" Filled some holes in nicely there.
  12. Has it been officially announced as a single LP? I was *really* hoping they'd expand it to a 2xLP for the reissue as it's a bit long to cram onto one like they did originally.

It appears we'll be getting a remix of that Flexidisc track after all.
  14. That's exactly how I feel - it's what I wanted the Zwan album to sound like but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. More specifically, I think it sounds like the lovechild of 'Mary Star of the Sea' and 'Gish'. I do feel that the album starts and ends strong but meanders a bit too much in the middle. If it was a tight 10 tracks a la 'Gish' I think it would be even better. (Not that I'm familiar enough with it yet to know what to cut, but the sequencing is a bit off.)
  15. It sure was. I kind of took it for granted when I lived there - NYC ain't got nothing on it! (Which makes my wallet happy, I suppose.)
  16. Went back home to Rochester for the weekend and spent some time digging through the bargain bins, ended up with a pretty decent haul: $1 7"s: Madonna - Angel MARRS - Pump Up The Volume / Anita Corey Hart - Never Surrender poster sleeve Prince - Pop Life / Hello Vanity - Pretty Mess promo 12"/LPs: Merry Christmas from Sesame Street (tried to replace a old, worn-out cassette copy this past year and it went for over $100 on eBay - finally found one for $5!) Michael Jackson - Thriller (no Michael Jackson production credit, which is apparently a first pressing and better SQ due to the stampers not being as worn at that point. We'll see...) Grace Jones - Fame Sheila E - Romance 1600 The Beautiful South - Song For Whoever 12" Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Power of Love gatefold 12" (when I got it home I realized it had the standard 12" in the limited sleeve...oh well.)
  17. Found a little record shop around the corner from my apartment I had no idea was there. Huzzah! Picked up: Art of Noise - Into Battle with the Art of Noise - US 12" Duran Duran - The Reflex - UK 12" Spice Girls - Stop (Morales Remixes) - US 12" promo and the real find James - One Man Clapping - UK LP Good day.
  18. Last night I done bought myself: Death Grips - The Money Store LP Light Asylum - Light Asylum LP (#227/1000)
  19. Belated birthday shopping: Silversun Pickups - Neck of the Woods 2xLP Sinead O'Connor - The Emperor's New Clothes US 12" Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation 1814 LP Sheila E. - Sister Fate 12" Ordered, awaiting shipment: Colourbox - Colourbox 4xCD box set This Many Boyfriends - (I Should Be A) Communist & Young Lovers Go Pop! 7"s
  20. I am so excited for all of this. The bonus discs for the albums proper are kind of useless being just the b-sides recycled (again!), but the bonus discs on the mega-box look incredible and it'll be nice to have easy-ish access to the albums on LP again. I can't wait to fork over my cash for it all - I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of $700 for both sets? I don't even care, I neeeeeeeeed them.
  21. Battles - Dross Glop 2 showed up today. Huzzah!
  22. I've always appreciated this album more than enjoyed listening to it, but I recently found a very nice US 2xLP pressing and have spun it a couple of times already. Maybe there's more to it than I have thought for all these years.
  23. Battles - Dross Glop 1 showed up yesterday. It's real purty.
  24. I love this band - and specifically this album - so much. Was 'Charm School' ever issued on LP?
  25. The Shabazz Palaces Remix of "White Electric" is up for listening. I'm not super impressed. http://bttls.com/dross-glop-2-white-electric-shabazz-palaces-remix/
