From Pitchfork: After sharing a classic Sun Kil Moon album, a 10" called "The Possum", and, uh, that War on Drugs stuff, Mark Kozelek is at work on a new album. In an interview with The Omaha-World Herald (via Stereogum), he says he's "halfway" through it and "hopefully that could be out by fall". He said: [Sonic Youth drummer] Steve Shelley was telling me the other night, “This next one needs to be really good,” and my hope is that it will be. But it’s going to be what it’s going to be. Got my 12" a couple days ago. Good stuff. That entire series was money. Very happy with it. Love the Spoon cover from Hiss Golden Messenger.

Single Mothers is easily his worst album. Matt Pence is one of the best drummers on the planet. Surprised at your reaction. I worked one of their shows in September and thought it was great pretty much specifically because of Pence's drumming. To each his own I guess.
