  1. Congrats on your first table dude! You need to seriously adjust your speaker placement though, a picture of your setup taken further out would totally help. I agree with pretty much everything yanquiuxo said regarding your questions.
  2. Is there a leak or a full stream anywhere? I'd really like to give it a listen before I end up ordering it.
  3. I got my Coasta copy the other day, and I have to say it's amazing. Sounds pretty great, and the color is beautiful. Thanks for the solid pressing dude, well worth the wait.
  4. There isn't just a different artwork and pressing color. There's two different songs, Mountain Sound and Slow & Steady aren't on this, and Lakehouse has an extra verse. I'm really mad I didn't get this pressing when I saw it go up. If it's any help OP, I occasionally see it going for $40-$50 on eBay.
  5. Yeah I understand why it was that way, I'm just happy to hear this pressing has a full jacket!
  6. What is the sleeve like? The tour variant was pretty disappointing, with just a back fold to the cover.
  7. Here you go. http://www.melodysupreme.org/product/straylight-run-prepare-to-be-wrong-rsd-2013-colored/
  8. I don't know what that is talking about, the quality of mine is fine. Certainly a lot better than last year's ST pressing. If you do want, I might get rid of mine, I haven't completely decided yet.
  9. When I got mine from them whoever was at the merch table (I'm pretty sure it was Jon) offered me a free download card, but I ended up declining because I had already bought it off Bamdcamp. Did you buy your's in person?
  10. Great to hear, I may have to end up ordering a second copy. Does the insert happen to have lyrics on it or anything like that?
  11. I was really impressed by this. Probably going to pick it up when I go out for RSD. Seven Sisters, Avery Hill, and I Need a Change are probably my favorites so far. Really disappointed they didn't rerecord Real Good Lover for this though, that song was such a jam.
  12. I'd also like to know this. I'm not a big fan of the sleeve the tour variant had.
  13. Do you think the RSD release also going to be having the second LP with the live performance? I'm really looking forward to that. Actually I just looked at the Fat Cat website, it seems to say the package they announced today is exclusive to RSD, with 1000 copies pressed. So I think there is only going to be 1000 total.
  14. It's definitely USA. My store said that they'd be trying to hold a copy for me.
  15. There is going to be an RSD repress of The Midnight Organ Fight, plus they're doing some sort of split/complilation thing with Manchester Orchestra and Grouplove. Edit: just saw you already knew about these. My bad.
  16. They still had around 30 left after last night, so unless they sell a lot during the festival you should be able to get them off their bandcamp.
  17. Haha I was just kidding dude, no need to take it so seriously. Sorry if I came off the wrong way.
  18. I'm gonna be at the Allentown show the night after Philly. If you buy all of these I'm gonna be so pissed.
  19. Really, from what I've read it seems like the P3 is pretty well liked for its price. Plus my local stereo store still has it in stock, and that's where I would be buying it from. He'd probably give me a pretty good deal on it too since it's discontinued. I haven't looked at the New Classic line yet, I've only experienced the Halo line. Do you know if they ever replaced the P3 with something similar in price? Thee P7 is $2000 and the JC2 is about the same I think. If you're still looking for speakers, Golden Ear is supposed to be out of this world. They have both towers and bookshelfs. Or you could really support America and buy a pair of Wilson Alexandrias.
  20. The amount we have in common is insane. The next amplification I'm looking to get is the Parasound Halo P3 and A23. How do you like yours? And I'm really seriously looking at VPI. I cheated on speakers though, I have a pair of B&W CM5s.
  21. I ended up getting the Lounge for a couple of reasons. First I saw some really good user reviews on it that stated it blew away phono preamps in a similar price range. I also loved the way it looked, I'm a big fan of the solid wood enclosure and the slight blue glow. I was leaning towards getting a Cambridge Azur, but was just tired of how all my equipment was black plastic and metal. And the main reason I got it was because it was hand-made in America. I figured I'd rather give the guy making it my money than some corporation that are making these things over in China. Plus it came with a 1-year warranty so I was sure if something ever happened it would easily be fixed. I ended up loving it. I still have to compare it with the Pro-Jects at my local store. But as I said, compared to the Yamaha's input it blew it away.
  22. Except he doesn't have a phono preamp. He has a phono input built-in to his receiver. He definitely doesn't need a new cartridge first, because the 2M is pretty solid by itself. It's hard to tell how good his speakers are, but they're probably not that great (no offense OP) but for $100 to $200 he's not going to be able to get anything substantially better. To claim that a stand-alone phono stage is not going to provide a better experience than a built-in Yamaha version is either disingenuous or ignorant. Sure they both may provide the same amount of voltage gain, but phono stages are known to have unique sound signatures. It would be akin to saying this Onkyo and this McIntosh sound the same because they're both rated at 75 watts per channel.
  23. A phono preamp has two main functions; converting the voltage from the turntable to a usable level for the receiver (which you said) and equalizing the sound. But just because it increases the voltage output, it doesn't mean it is a "power source". Preamps provide NO power to the speakers in a system. And congrats on learning about Wikipedia.
