is Ronald McMurder still in Total Chaos? Also, Total Chaos is still a band? No he isn't in Total Chaos anymore. Yeah, they still tour contantly, pretty much year round, albeit almost exclusively overseas except for festivals and such. They are touring the U.S this summer though.

Actually I love Paul and The Strings, I know it certainly isn't everyones cup of tea, especially considering people who are a fan of Pauls stuff, are usually into hardcore and street punk, kind of weird that he plays acoustic pub music. I just happen to like that type of music though, I'm a big Hope Sandoval, Bjork, Tori fan as well as a punk rock fan, so the Strings stuff appeals to me. I actually think a lot of it is brilliant. But yeah, I certainly can see why most fans of the genre aren't too into it

Of course Paul Russo was also a founding member of The Unseen, (among others) and did vocals until 2003, when he left after the Explode album to focus on his own projects. Great fucking band

You need a business licence regardless. It's only something like 50 bucks a year for a sole proprietor.

You need to be legal. Get a few books and study them. No offense, but if your asking a really simple question like this on a message board, you should probably not start a label. Learn about business, and more particularly the indie record business, and then think about a label. You probably won't make any money, you won't really need that tax id, because no distributor is going to pick you up until you have at least 10 or so good selling records and the financial means to put a couple grand of promo behind each release. But yeah, learn about all that goes into owning your own business first, and then prepare to be dirt poor broke for a long while, and distributing your records yourself at a loss, maybe a distributor would pick you up in a few years, after you've shown a few thousand sales per release. Unless you have a fairly unhealthy love of music, starting a label is a very very very poor financial decision.

No one should pay over 5 bucks for a new release 7". 7's have always been used as a promotional single for a band, upcoming full length etc. To pay over 5 bucks for a 2-3 songs is stupid, and greed on the labels part. If a label can only press 1-200 7's, they probably shouldn't be pressing it at all. 7's have never been a money maker, or a profitable product, people that try to make bank on 7's suck. Also, people overseas that think we have it good because they have to pay 20 bucks for an LP, keep in mind that our currency is in the shitter, 1 euro is almost double what 1 U.S dollar is worth. I have hemmorhoids and my ass itches right now as well.
