Sounds like a good way to renew some old records. I think I might give this a shot as well if I have enough glue. I have a couple records I'd love to reduce the noise on for sure.

I agree. I think it would have made sense to repress the 2xLP version in a larger quantity for folks who missed out. I think that one is very "deluxe" on its own.
