  1. Madie, homeboy was definitely telling you as a means of insurance. There are points where I don't want to be in a relationship, but I don't take girls on romantic dates. This seems a bit misleading. Glad you found out before you became a smitten kitten.
  2. Derek, that's a huge huge bummer man, and I'm really sorry. Sadly, there isn't a lot you can do in a situation like this. The unfortunate thing is that you can never get inside somebody's head and know everything that is going on. At this point the only thing you can do is tend to yourself; enjoy times with great friends to keep your mind off of her. Whatever you do though, do not hang by a thread; she still needs to know how strong and independent you can be. So don't be the first to email or text, show her you can be fine without her. I've tried to do the extravagant "take me back" gestures and they have worked before, but that was after a fight, not a situation so nearly amicable. And as much as it sucks to hear, after my ex left, I've been comparing girls to her ever since. But i know I will eventually stop this, as you will also.
  3. So is this what happens when car salesmen take to selling records? I feel like I just got kicked in the eyeballs by a handful of HTML.
  4. Also, when people abbreviate words while talking. Do not say "totes" around me unless you love sarcasm.
  5. I started drumming sixteen years ago because nobody else I knew would drum for the band I was in, so I sold my guitar and amp and bought a kit. I learned by just practicing all of the time; seriously, I would even spend evenings drumming on my legs in my bedroom. I eventually got pretty damn good from just being thrown behind a kit and being forced to learn.
  6. I tend to only date girls that can make me laugh; of she can achieve this than I'm so into it. So maybe I should try the 'night in your thighs line'.
  7. Got drunk with my tattoo artist tonight, apparently I'm getting my balls tattooed this week. Updates to come.
  8. I do; however, get batshit crazy when I end up sending a Stephen King length novella, only to receive "k" in return. I often have to remind people that there are more letters within the alphabet.
  9. I once broke up with a girl because she would text "your" in lieu of "you're". She knew I'm a writing major, yet still chose to irritate me via text. She also used faaaaarrr too many emoticons.
  10. Blake waking up across the street and he just shrugs his shoulders- priceless "how about you show me your tampons"
  11. If you're already moving all of your things overseas, it would not be unreasonable, nor that insanely expensive to add your record collection along with the microwave and sofa. If you love your wife enough to pack up and leave everything (which is honestly pretty amazing), she will understand how much you love your collection and will understand the expense of taking it along with you. 2-5 years is a long time; if you sell your collection off I guarantee you will regret it; maybe not now, but in time. Spend the money and take it along with you.
  12. Received mine today; I have a lot of mixed opinions on this record. Though I think it is amazing musically, and I don't think Brian has ever sounded better as a vocalist, I understand why everybody here is up in arms about the repetition of certain lyrical phrasing (blood, queen, youth, young, etc). I feel like this would be an absolute perfect record had Brian maybe experimented with different lyrical elements. Also, I feel like it is far superior to American Slang as a whole, based on the musical composition, as well as the mixing. Throughout American Slang, Alex's guitar work almost sounded like a guy "jamming" over another band. His guitar work seemed as if somebody were noodling over a set of very well put together pop songs; whereas, Handwritten was a perfect mix of pop songs that blended together wonderfully. Ignoring a certain cliche grouping of lyrics, this is an incredible album.
  13. Awesome, I just cured a kid with cancer by liking a Facebook status, then saved a starving child with a retweet, I can't wait to save somebody from an overseas prison by clicking yes after typing my name!
  14. I picked up a copy of this on discogs about a month ago for $5; thing is, I haven't received it. I am not happy about that part.
  15. For those interested, here is Hornby's introduction. I've always been a fan of Hornby's work, due to how simple and honest it is; this piece was written in such vein.
  16. I don't get the whole "your guitar sucks, buy a (insert brand here). Dude bought an Ibanez because he digs Ibanez and the clientele associated with such. I play Mexican teles because A I think they sound and feel great, and B. because that's what I am afford. Most of the people that I know with crazy expensive Les Paul's sit in their living rooms playing cover songs to nobody, while all of my buddies are playing their shit show cheap stringers across the country. I've never gotten the whole 'who's dick is bigger argument', ok, cool dude- you have a small dick, I'm sure you can totally fix that; except you can't.
  17. If you're not looking to spend too much dough, I once used a cheap 3 shelf bookshelf I got from Wal Mart, it was around $12 and they always have them in stock, they also fit records. I cut holes in the back for cables.
  18. When you add her, just send a short message like 'hey, I'm (insert non record forum username here)', at this point just try making light e-conversation with her, if you're feeling it ask for her number. Don't over think things, simplicity works well in boy-girl situations.
  19. Love Garden is the best, they went out of their way to hunt down a copy of The Anniversary Proundentall split. I think they may have actually hit up one of the band members. Sold it to me crazy cheap too.
  20. These bad boys have been sold. Thank you do much for the offers and trade attempts. Also, karmamook, you should try to relax a little more. When was the last time you let your hair down, went out with the girls, and danced until you were one Cranberry vodka away from telling the bartender just how cute he is? Maybe it's about that time.
  21. Haha, that video was the best thing I've seen in a while
  22. I don't get why this is such a bad thing. Labels happen, sometimes out of stereotypes and sometimes out of convenience; as it may be easier to describe something/someone. Like genre labeling for instance. If somebody were to ask me to describe my friends as a whole, it would just be easier to say 'a bunch of twenty something hipsters' than to describe each individual. I'm in no way responding to your statement in a negative way sirnonsene, and I'm glad you're on this board. I just had a great conversation on this topic last night (over PBRs of course).
