  11. "Iron Chic's long-awaited sophomore full-length, The Constant One, ups the band's ante, boasting nearly 40 minutes of their heartfelt, signature melodic punk with big buildups, warm harmonies, and gripping climaxes. The band tackles somewhat altered subject matter from 2010's Not Like This with deeply embedded metaphors hinting at themes of communication, perseverance, and self-worth, making The Constant One no mere sequel, but rather its own set of cleverly cloaked ideas soundtracked by a bed of driving riffs and life-affirming, tremendous melodies." 13. From B9: "Today marks the release of Alcoa's Drowned 7inch, which is a two-song teaser for Bone & Marrow, the forthcoming debut full-length from this solo side project of Defeater frontman Derek Archambault. Bone & Marrow was recorded in mid-2012, first in Derek's hometown of Portsmouth, NH, then at Mike Moschetto's The Office Recording (N. Andover, MA) and at Jay Maas' Getaway Recording Studio (for vocal tracks and mastering). This debut album features eleven pop/country-tinged songs about life, love and regret. Also prevalent on the album is the addition of instrumentation like upright bass, banjo, fiddle, pedal steel, piano/organ, and charming guy/girl dueling vocals (featuring Archambault's fiance Alyssa Eygnor), making it Alcoa's most complete and mature effort to date. Pre-order Bone & Marrow (available 2/26/13) and pick up a copy of the Drowned 7inch" http://www.b9store.com/alcoa - /100 package with exclusive variant, silkscreened cover, limited and numbered /100 shirt and sticker, and 12"x18" poster - /200 red with black smoke - /700 clear with black and gray smoke
  14. Saw this today, thought everyone would want to know about it! Last December, Massachusetts-based DEFEATER was invited to record a BBC Maida Vale Session in the UK, which aired on Mike Davies Punk Show on BBC Radio 1 on January 24th. Just about one year later, Bridge Nine Records is excited to make this session available on digital and vinyl formats on December 18th and January 15th, respectively. Defeater guitarist (and Getaway Recording engineer) Jay Maas commented on the recording session: "On every level imaginable, this experience was a dream come true for me. Every band from The Cure, and The Smiths to Hot Snakes, and American Nightmare has been recorded behind those walls. It’s nothing but an honor and a treat to now be included on that list. We tracked live versions of 'But Breathing', 'Brothers', 'Warm Blood Rush', and 'Empty Glass'." He continued, "The studio was absolutely gorgeous. It had 20-foot ceilings, great acoustic treatment, a built-in glass vocal booth, and a lounge loft, all contained in the live room. There was a full 48-track SSL board, three silver-faced 1176ln compressors, an E.A.R. Fairchild replica, and hand built near field monitors, which sounded unreal, in the control room." Defeater recently completed an Australian tour with Blacklisted as well as a West Coast tour just prior to that. 2013 will see Defeater releasing their Live On BBC Radio 1 album and writing and recording new material for Bridge Nine Records. More information coming soon. B9R177 - Defeater, Live on BBC Radio 1: Digital Release Available 12/18/12: "But Breathing" "Warm Blood Rush" "Brothers" "Empty Glass" Vinyl Release Available 1/15/13: "But Breathing" "Warm Blood Rush" "Brothers" Pre-order info coming soon.
