landmanmj
is it just me or is anyone else have trouble with assholes shipping vinyl in envelopes. is it too much to ask to buy a damn box and ship it properly. i swear if i pay good money for another record and it comes in a padded envelope, my brain is going to explode

landmanmj
irecords that i like for example i bought a comeback kid turn it around on white that i paid $50 for and dude shippied it in a padded envellope and the cover was all fucked up when i got it. $50 isnt alot but you would think it would warrant a box. same thing happened with a first step record release version
adamlikesmusic
I'd say $50 is "a lot". But I guess that may just be me.
landmanmj
compared to what some other pressings of 200, like blacklisteds new one, are going for its not that much plus i needed it for my set, by the way could there be anymore pressing of this album, so its not too bad
subscript
not saying you paid too much for it, I just think $50 is a lot to spend on something and have it shipped really poorly.
gravitylovesdrunks
fuck that shit $50 IS a lot of money and the asshole should pack it properly. i always do right when i send shit out.
landmanmj
thank you skittles thats all im saying. even if i sell a record for $10 i still ship it in a box and packed well so it wont slide around in the box and damage the cover and i dont think its too much to ask to do it right. ocnypunk
i feel your pain. ebay people either dont care or dont know any better. i always cringe when i buy an LP on ebay. its like a crapshoot if your record is going to come in one piece. i try, when possible to ship in an LP mailer. But if im out, i at least use two pieces of cardboard, then wrap with kraft paper. i would never just mail it in a padded mailer.
landmanmj
most ebay people do suck wouldnt you assume that its common sense not to use a envelope unfortunately i have to resort to ebay to get most of my records because the crap i collect it too hard to get out of people in trades. i wonder if emailing them and asking how they ship before i buy would do any good
jhamm212
I'm hoping the NFG 7" I shipped to you met your standards.
kouka
when dealing with ebay, I have started to send this message in the notes section for paypal, or straight to the seller: "When packing the record(s) for shipment, could you please remove the record from the picture sleeve, but slide it back into the poly-bag behind the picture sleeve - this will prevent the record moving during transit which causes seam splits on the jacket. also, if you could reinforce it by adding a very stiff piece or cardboard the same size (or larger) than the record itself to help the corners not get bent by the often careless USPS. I appreciate you packaging these with care, and if you have any questions, please let me know!" I have received 3 records since and they have all been packaged really well! takingchase
I didn't even realize they made bubble mailers big enough to ship lp's. I've had a few of my 7" shipped poorly but never a lp. Guess I'm just lucky so far.

actiondan
^^^ doing this from now on. me too, i just got a lp in the mail today, came in a huge padded mailer, meaning it had pleny of room to move around. luckily no seam splits, bu tthe dust sleeve was ripped. vinyljunkie
as long as there is cardboard in the mailer to reinforce it as big or bigger than the record itself, whats the difference? generally a bubbler mailer the right size keeps the record tighter, and keeps it from sliding. most cardboard mailers are just 1/8" too big which makes the record bounce around, thus causing seam splits, etc. i use cardboard mailers in the distro. and folded bubble mailers with reinforced cardboard on ebay. and i think percentage wise i have had more troubles with cardboard mailers overall. i think its less a safety issue, and more a stigma that bubble mailers sound bad and are usually frowned upon, and cardboard mailers are the way to go. you can screw up a record just as easily in a cardboard mailer, and its happened many times. landmanmj
everytime i have recieved a record in an padded envelope it has been badly bent. the bubblewrap does help to keep it from sliding but doesnt protect it when the envelope is getting thrown around it transit. the lp mailers do if it is packed right but why take the chance with the envelope
kurtz
I've gotten many records in bubble mailers, and as long as they have cardboard support inside, I have never had any problems.
