drewvandal
Been doing some research and was curious if anyone could recommend a table in the $1,500 - $2,000 range (with a cartridge included) Been mainly eying up the Music Hall 7.1 or the Rega RP3. Any help would be greatly appreciated, not really any stores in my area that carry either which makes it difficult for me to compare and I can't stand another day with my DP300F
Crabwalker
For that price you can get the rega rp6 I was actually looking at a rp6 before I decided to go the vpi route.
seangj
VPI Scout Jr with Dynavector 10x5 cart will run $2050.
allenh
A Sota Comet which leaves you $500 ish for a cart which could be a Dynavector 10x5 or a Sumiko BPS or even a Denon 103 and some change. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/111422538829 You can get it a bit cheaper if you shop around. biodigitaljazz
xxmartinxx
What kind of phono preamp and stereo are you going to use? There's no point in dropping $2k on a table to plug it into garbage. biodigitaljazz
ksuwdboots
You might find this thread from a few months ago useful: http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/109672-best-turntable-1000-1500/
problemchild
The Marantz TT15S is right in that range (a little below if you can find a good deal). I've had mine for just over a year and have no complaints, absolutely love it.
Tardcore
a number of us picked up the Marantz TT 15-S1 for around the $1k mark about 5 months ago. I don't think I could have done much better for the price. If I was in the $2k range, I would be trying very hard to put myself into a VPI Scout. seangj
I love my Scout. I purchased it a few years ago with the Dynavector 10x5 and can't be happier. This was before the Jr. came out, so I think the price was a little better.
smwalsh6
I've been looking in this price range too. Really intrigued by the Clearaudio Concept, but no where local to check it out in person. Definitely not fun dropping that much money on something you've only seen pictures of.
Seafinch
When I was pondering the same thing I ended up going with a Clearaudio Concept and a Nagaoka MP-500. I'm VERY pleased with my setup. I auditioned the Concept side by side with a VPI Scout 1.1 and preferred the Concept. Just seemed more musical, less clinical to my ear. Good luck with your search. I thought about sending you a pm after seeing the concept in a pic of your setup. Glad to hear some feedback from a regular person. Sometimes reviews on audio sites come off kinda ridiculous to me. drewvandal
I'm pretty into the VPI Scout Jr. Still unsure about what kind of phono-pre amp but I have solid speakers / amp.
