yancey47
Kool Keith is one of the oddest and awesomest rappers ever. Really want this but his shit is really hit or miss. http://www.mellomusicgroup.com/collections/frontpage/products/lorange-kool-keith-time-astonishing-lp
monsterrod
I love Kool Keith and while the two songs I sampled didn't grab me instantly, I think they will grow on me. I'll pick this up in a couple weeks, thanks.
JustSchwimmer
I'm a big Kool Keith fan, I picked this up without listening to the album first...I wanted to be surprised. I'd put this more in the "miss" category than the "hit" side. His lyrics are crazy and out of left field as always but his flow is just odd on these release, he sounds like he's giving 10% effort the whole time. Again love the artist just not this release. paranoidantroyd
Funny, L'Orange stood behind me at RSD in 2011&2012.
sabukweli
I'm not in love with this either but it beats the crap out of pretty much anything Keith has done since Masters of Illusion way too many years ago. That triple mix CD Total Orgasm from a few months ago was soooooooo bad. I don't know why he fell in love with cheap garbage production, and I gotta give it up to Mello for finally getting him on some boom-bap shit again. casinonightzone
I just met L'Orange last night. Super nice guy. I'm excited to check this out! I would recommend Finale's album "Odds & Ends" on the same label...
sinatra.45
Kool Keith is hit or miss with me as well, although I did pick this album up last week. L'Orange's production is pretty solid and the album has a fun concept vibe. I've really been enjoying it. Mello Music also put up a second pressing of the L'Orange and Jeremiah Jae's "The Night Took Us In Like Family" for those interested. yancey47
Really dig this. One of Keith's best, I think. L'Orange is great.
sabukweli
When it comes to Keith's 2015 output, I find this one to the the most enjoyable. http://www.undergroundhiphop.com/ray-west-kool-keith-a-couples-of-slices/RA45017LP/ He's not playing a time-traveling character. It's just good old shit-talkin' Keith. I was bored by most of Ray West's previous production work (2 EPs with O.C. come to mind), but a lot of it works for me here. He rarely uses snares, which is strange in hip-hop, and sets him apart. Sometimes it's sorely missed but a lot of it is pretty cool. I wish I would've snatched this before it sold out at UGHH. sabukweli
That record is still available at a bunch of spots, just saw it on discogs for $15 Thanks. I hadn't looked too hard anywhere else yet, as I'm on a vinyl buying moratorium until I see what I get for Xmas. That's helpful to know I can still get it elsewhere though
yancey47
Keith does despise other rappers.
