counterfiction
pick a day. sit down. watch all three extended editions in a row. that's a good day right there.
mattramone
My girlfriend made me watch all three extended editions, but I got to spread them out over six days. Last time she tried to make me watch them, I would doze about the 17 hour mark.
jhulud
I had a girlfriend who was into Lord Of The Rings as much as I was into Star Wars...which means, A LOT!!!! Watching the extended versions is cool b/c you get to see all the shit the cut out and the story is even more epic. But watching it once is enough... faith
wow, I'm surprised there are 2 LOTR movies haters here Glad to see I'm not alone Instead of watching the extended edition, go buy the books, sit down in a cozy chair and read away. Best thing you could do

sgoodcore
The books are awesome AND the movies are awesome. I agree with counter, order some pizza and watch all three in a row. Best 14 hours you'll spend, especially if you're in the mood for a day in or its raining or something.

Best thing you could do I could never even get through the first book, but I loved the movies. It's not like I don't enjoy reading either. I consider myself a pretty avid reader. jacobe
extended edition has the mouth of sauron in the third one. It's a shame that was cut from the theatricle cut as I thought it was done brilliantly.
steventangent
Instead of Lord of the Rings, watch Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness.
melikecheese
I just watched the original ones and was thinking about watching it again. Is it worth it watching the extended versions? YES.. They cut out a surprising number of valuable informative scenes. Like the Elvish girl being a ring bearer, and Aragon (cant spell) being like some thousand years old. inutil
Ok, i'll give it a try! And i've already done the evil dead 1 and 2 and army of darkness once!
jhulud
Randal Graves: All right, look, there's only one "Return," okay, and it ain't "of the King," it's "of the Jedi." Hobbit Lover: Oh, Star Wars geek. Randal Graves: Oh, I'm the geek? Look at you two whipping out your preciouses. Elias: You'll have to excuse him, he's not "down" with the trilogy. Randal Graves: Oh, what the fuck happened to this world? There's only one trilogy, you fucking morons. Hobbit Lover: You know what, maybe we should start calling your friend Padme, 'cause he loves Manakin Skywalker so much, right? [in robot voice] Hobbit Lover: Danger danger, my name is Anakin. My shitty acting is ruining saga. Elias: [chuckling] Yeah, you're crazy Jar-Jar. Randal Graves: Oh, I'm crazy? Those fuckin' hobbit movies were boring as hell. All it was, was a bunch of people walking, three movies of people walking to a fucking volcano.
sgoodcore
I love the books, thought the movies were great but Star Wars is "the trilogy." That doesn't mean the Lord of the Rings was a bad movie. And if all you have is some dialogue, brilliant as it may be, from Clerks 2 you don't have much ground t stand on my friend.
jhulud
I wasn't knocking the Rings trilogy...I just find that exchange from Clerks 2 amusing...and every time there is discussion about Lord of the Rings, I can't help but to think of it. I enjoyed the Rings movies...there was a period of time when I started to hate them though, because the girlfriend I mentioned a few posts before, would watch the movies ALL the damn time...any chance she got, she would watch them...even when she would be doing something else, they'd be on. Makes sense and I could totally see that. That exchange is quite amusing but the bit about Anakin hosing the whole set of three is spot on for the most part.
