sgoodcore
I like to eat my own homemade burgers with:extra lean ground beef 1 egg 1 finely chopped jalapeño pepper 1 pack of Campbell's onion soup mix 1 small onion finely chopped 4-6 mushrooms finely chopped 1 clove of garlic 3-4 dashes of warchester sauce 1-4 dashes of Franks 1 sesame seed bun, you big dummy. Sounds like meatloaf. On a side note, extra lean Turkey (Jeannie-o) makes shit burgers. It's okay for meatloaf and other products but it doesn't have enough fat to make a juicy burger. Also awesome is my friends blue cheese burger. You basically wrap the meat around a ball of blue cheese and grill. Shit is off the chain. If you make the burgers thin enough when you're using Turkey they come out good. I think Jennie-O makes pre-made patties exceptionally thin, those with some salt and pepper worked really well for me. Their premade patties are alright but their extra lean turkey (some shit like 1g of fat) are just too lean. I find it bakes up well but doesn't do too well on the grill. It's just a personal taste issue.
divaface
I love turkey burgers. I'm trying to cut red meat out of my diet. I had a phase where the only burger i would eat was this one from ihop that was topped with cheese and an over-medium egg. Sounds gross but it was incredibly delicious. I haven't had one in a year or two.
xjustinxschwierx
there's chain called Shoops by my parents place in Indiana that are fucking ridiculous. like, feel your heart slowing down while eating it good. I may have to go visit them to go there because of this thread....
AsleepOnRocks
Five Guys and Fatburger get my votes. Also, if you're making a burger at home, use good beef, all it needs is kosher salt, put anything else ON the burger, not in it.

I've had it twice in the last year and both times it has been in burger form (sooo good). As a whole it's easy enough to do, but yeah there are times a steak or a double cheese burger sounds sooooooo good.

lydiawesome
I haven't had a real burger with actual meat in about 10+ years. I've had my best restaurant bought veggie burger creations at this place in Santa Cruz called Saturn Cafe. I still go to In N Out when people decide to eat there, I just get the grilled cheese with everything and its still pretty awesome. I'd go there when I used to eat meat but I always thought my dad made better burgers. He and my brother love Fatburger also, to whoever said that, though I can't remember what one tastes like. Also noteworthy are Cupid's and Pink's. I know those places cater to hot dog lovers, but their chili burgers were really good too. Although, if one was going to have to wait half an hour or more in line at Pink's, I would recommend the dog. Now if someone could point me in the direction of a good veggie chili dog, that would be perfect.

It's awful, but I am getting a lot better. I've also gone from dining out constantly to cooking at home, so that helps as well in terms of flexibility with subbing turkey for beef or whatever. But sometimes I just want to head over to Chili's and get a huge steak...

lokithelion
Being that I try to stick to being as kosher as possible I can't eat cheeseburgers any longer. That said I think its hard to beat the In N' Out Double-double animal style. Fatburger also makes a fantastic burger and I'm a big fan of some of the burgers Red Robin serves.I love me some veggie burgers too. Its my stand-by when I want some cheese and other milk-based products on a burger at a restaurant. Morningstar Mozzarella and something-or-other burger is awesome, smells just like pizza. Its how I got the girlfriend to start eating veggie burgers. I thought beef was kosher? What on a cheeseburger isnt?

If I recall correctly.

sgoodcore
"you shall not cook a kid in its mother's milk" <----- no beef and cheese Ding. Ding. The more scientific answer: At the point where these rules were starting to develop you had mostly wooden plates and kitchen tools. When you use one of these plates with meat you would get blood in to the normal cuts in a wooden plate where it would sit, filled with bacteria. When you placed milk on the same plate the milk would draw out the bacteria, hence causing sickness. Same thing with pork just differently: You ate pork that was not well cooked you would get sick because of trichinosis.

If you know that the reason G-d put those rules in the book in the first place was to combat sickness and help build a nation (same thing with not having sex w/ a women on her period or spilling your seed loosely etc) why do you still keep kosher? divaface
You could say that about any religious practice. It's for tradition's sake i guess.
mikeian
the wikipedia entry for Kashrut (redirected from kosher) is long but anyway, i get my double double animal style w/ both kinds of onions and my fries well done
dylan
five guys is fucking awesome IF you dont have an in-and-out to goto and as far as turkey burgers, whenever i make a burger at home i use turkey (both the ground and pre-formed patties) and have never had a problem with them being too dry
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I gave up red meat a few years ago, only burgers I eat are turkey burgers, and boy do I love 'em. Red Robin is by far the best burger joint because you can substitute turkey or boca on any sandwich. Just ate there the other night. so good. But yeah, Turkey burgers are where its at

controlthebleeding
I eat red meat on occasion, but when i do, i go all out..Casino El Camino Buffalo Burger. If anyone is ever in Austin, by all means get ahold of me and i'll take you there (if you're 21 as it's a bar) 3/4 pound of beef, blue cheese, and some other shit i cant remember. Makes for a good burger. Homemade fries too. Just like In and Out. And while i've had both, this blows In and Out away. And it's only $8 for a meal. and this is what it looks like with blue cheese. And it's always cooked medium rare unless you ask for well done..which negates the reason you should get it, because the rareness adds to the flavor.
