Carter is staying DH after 37 home runs. Springer already had his spot, he hit 20 home runs in his first 78 MLB games. This definitely gives Marisnick the starting job at CF now. After already giving Singleton a contract they have to keep trying him at 1st for while longer. Hopefully he settles down. People freaked out, but the kid is still only 23.

I'm so happy to see several guys I watched play in the minors doing so well. Can't wait to take the trip to Corpus Christi to see Carlos Correa up close. I've go to see him at a small stadium before he's called up.

I'm sure you know the Astros better than I do, I was just referring to a Ken Rosenthal tweet mentioning Springer as a CF option.

It's cool. Springer was the future CF choice with his awesome defense until we got Marisnick, who is even better. And I think a lot of the DH situation will have a lot to deal with Singleton at 1st. He he struggles then I'm sure Carter will play there. No way they take his bat out of the line up.

So the Astros are cool with Gattis patrolling LF on a regular basis?

Ha, can't be any worse than Carlos Lee. God I hope I'm right. Thankfully the Crawford Boxes out there make it smaller. They should have the Kelly Leak rule in effect for whoever is playing in center. Anything they can get to in LF is their ball.

That's an ugly scene to watch. The Astros should trade Singleton for a OF, move Gattis to DH and sub for Castro on his days off. They then should move Carter to 1B on a permanent basis. They have to many guys that are limited defensively who are also just home run hitters who won't hit higher than .230.

They signed Singleton to a huge team friendly contract for such a high prospect. There's no way they give up on him yet.

It's good to see another Astros fan around these parts.

I really need to post a picture of this record since it makes sense for this board. I have this 45 from when I was a kid that my dad bought. It's totally cheesy and called "Go Go Astros". And the b-side is "Vamos Vamos Astros", the same song in Spanish. I'm pretty sure that was the first Spanish word I learned because of the record. It's definitely one favorite Astros items. Glad I held onto it all these years.

Well I'm hearing there's a chance Singleton will start in AAA, which isn't a bad thing. He did struggle quite a bit. So now with Rasmus in the OF, Carter can play 1B and Gattis can DH. I'm cringing at the thought of strikeouts I'm going to see this year, but hopefully the home runs offset that a little.
Now just complete this Vogelsong deal and call it an offseason. No sexy signings/trades, but I feel like they were good ones. The only guy they lost that I'll really miss is Fowler, not only was he a good player but a great guy. Became a good friend to Springer, loved seeing those two celebrate together after a win. But hey, less than a month until pitchers and catchers report!

Houston made smart moves, IMO.

Im actually really excited for this years Brewers season.  Losing Gallardo is gunna stink, but he was never a "wins" pitcher, he was an innings eater to an extent.  Replacing his 8 - 12 wins per season shouldnt be too difficult, its the 200 IP part thats going to be more of a questionmark.

Trading Gallardo was the right move.  Gallardo is a nice pitcher and I don't really want to see him go because I got super into watching the Brewers Minor Leagues during the 2004 Draft.  I was certain the Mark Rogers, Yovanni Gallardo, Angel Salome, Lorenzo Cain and Darren Ford were going to be stars.

I am not a huge fan of Sardinas, but do like that he has a relatively high floor as a defensive specialist at SS (or 2nd).  The Brewers have dealt with some terrible infield defense over the past few years.  Hopefully Sardinas can reach his potential and be an Alcides Escobar like player.

Knebel is a nice high upside prospect.  It would be nice if he can develop into a Closer so the Brewers don't have to keep cycling through Closers every year or two.

Diplan is just a nice lottery ticket.  Melvin is doing a nice job of adding some high ceiling talent into it's minor league system.

I don't think Braden was ever even ranked a top 10 prospect within the Athletics organization and was a 24th round pic. He always exceeded all expectations before injuries derailed him.

My bad, I meant Dallas McPherson. He was hitting 30-40 homeruns in the minors with an ave over .300 and still couldnt get 225 PA a season in the bigs because of how bad he was when called up.
