BuzzersonKillwell
Welp. Tukka got paid. 8 years for $56m. He is still fairly young at 26 and they've seen him as their goalie going forward for a while now. Still, those long contracts never quite seem to work out. KennyFuckingPowers
Meaning Lundqvist is now going to get paid a shit ton....thanks Boston.
IanRees
Lunqvist was already going to get paid a shit ton, Tukka didnt change that. If anything, Quicks contract did. edit: after looking at capgeek, lundvist already gets paid a shit ton, and that contract was structured really weird. Point is what the fuck was the point of the lockout? Because those front loaded deals are still happening.....

Even though hes the 2nd best goalie in the NHL

Point is what the fuck was the point of the lockout? Because those front loaded deals are still happening..... not like they were before the lockout. the issue were contracts like Prongers and Kovulchuk's initial that were going to pay them $1m a year for the remaining 9 yeras of the contract just to lower the cap hit. the new CBA limits the length a contract can be (8 years max), which removes those additional years of $1m/yr to lower the cap hit that teams were adding on, with the "agreement" that the players would retire during/before those years came into play. Lunqvuist might be the highest paid goalie, but he'll never be the highest paid player. never. long-term contracts with goalies are straight up stupid, the risk is not worth the reward, see one DiPietro, Rick. Yeah I know this but they are still long ass high paid contracts.

companyinkrecs
blahahahahahhaaa. Hopefully we finish 30th in the year with no first rounder. My brother bought an authentic kovalchuk jersey last season thinking it was "the only safe player to get". Never liked him anyway, but we REALLY suck now. Lose Sykora, Clarkson, Parise, Kovalchuk. I hope we score at least ONE goal next season. Go Devs! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
KennyFuckingPowers
At the same time this could be a good thing, for Henrique that is. I imagine him having a huge year now
IanRees
What's funny is it actually helps the devils to have him retire (despite him being their best player and not having their 1st round pick if they tank) since they are in financial trouble and will only be hit with a 250k cap hit till 2024

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So how long till he signs with the KHL? a few days after his NHL contract is actually voided out by retirement. he cant sign a contract to play in the KHL with an active NHL contract.
