e6c
The last time a Gaslight Anthem autographed record went for sale it brought in $350 dollars! Unfortunately not everyone can afford to spend that much money, so if you want a chance to win The Gaslight Anthem's "Sink or Swim Demos" 7" Vinyl (Orange, 1st Pressing) AUTOGRAPHED by the entire band, all you have to do is volunteer to help out the homeless! Send in a photo of you donating clothes or blankets to a shelter, serving food at a soup kitchen or just buying a meal for someone on the street to [email protected] and you will be automatically entered to win The Gaslight Anthem's "Sink or Swim Demos" AUTOGRAPHED BY THE ENTIRE BAND! You may only send in one photo per day, but each day you volunteer will count as an entry, so you can enter up to 20 times! The contest runs from 5 December 2008 until 24 December 2008 and the winner will be contacted by email. Remember when you volunteer, everybody wins! Scott Cole Founder of Volunteering Rocks! aarondanger
sounds like a great thing thing you are doing. Motivating people to do things with vinyl always works. to bad its autographed

keevhren
great idea, and im by no means bashing or anything like that, but the main reason the last autographed gaslight anthem record sold for so much was definitely because of it being a test pressing... aeast317
me and my friends planned an event called "cakes for the homeless" and were doing it today, but shelters were closed and snow was on the ground so we are doing it another day. now that i hear of this, that makes it even more awesome! e6c
Make sure you send a picture in... I am shocked by how few people have entered the contest! Your odds of winning are going to be really high
cosmonaut
This is a super cool idea. I might have to send some pics in, as my wife and I are planning on doing a few things this month.
keevhren
you should submit this to punknews... i bet you would get a LOAD more responses/pictures sent in if it were posted there!

I think punknews hates me. They did not post my last contest in anything other than the vinyl files and I have emailed Chris about this but did not get any response... does anyone have an "in" at punknews and can get this up? mcm1610
If you're looking for traffic, submit it to absolute punk, despite what you think of the site. There's a trillion kids on there, and I'm sure a good number of them have to do community service for school anyway.
e6c
thanks, that is a good idea... and if you are at all interested, I suggesst you enter, like I said on another board, I am shocked at how few people have entered

hbeez
Does this sound kinda sketch to anyone else? Give a coat to a homeless dude, but make sure you get a pic cuz you might get something out of it for yourself too. Definatly good intentions, but personally I'd feel kind of weird doing that. joelifeline
This contest is awesome! I fully back the idea. I just finished dropping off items some people in the area I work. (I work for a non for profit youth organization) Maybe I should do this with a MLIW test press sometime....
lonesomexloveus
i volunteer at the humane society; does helping homeless animals count too?
mcm1610
When I'm a Social Studies teacher, whenever a student asks if there's extra credit, I'm telling them to go out and volunteer, then write a paper about the experience. While it'd be better if people did things purely out of the good of their hearts, sometimes baiting them into doing good is a step in the right direction.
