ineedamedic
hey! i am looking to convert my lps to mp3. i was wondering what systems/software anyone has used to do this. what usb turntables are worthwhile? i have seen some other systems that patch in between a stereo and your computer. are these any good? just looking for some tips and any experiences you guys have had before i spend some money. (i run a mac if that makes a difference, and i'm not super adept at computer stuff, though i'm not inept either) THANKS!
kouka
if you already have a soundcard, you can dl some free programs that record the whole record as one track, and then you split it up into songs yourself. goldwave is one a lot of people like. I have soundforge, but it's not freeware.
manicdogbert
as far as software goes, you can use Garageband to record into you comp.
patron
Yeah, I just have a cable that goes from the headphone output on my receiver to the input jack in my macbook/imac, and record using Sound Studio. You just have you isolate that tracks yourself.
tankerdesk
Audacity is a free very simple recording program.
thomas
I have a male-to-male RCA adapter that I use to plug my turntable into a RCA to 3.5mm cable, that goes into the line-in on my soundcard. I then use Goldwave to record it, then split it up later.

andrew13
i'd say a good 95% of what you own, there's a torrent of. it's the 5% that's a bitch.
rtw88
I've got a thing that I bought from Sam's Club awhile ago that goes from my receiver to USB. I think it was like $50 and it comes with recording programs as well as a crackle clipper and a song separating program. It's super easy to use. manicdogbert
there is a ton of music that i like that isn't available in a digital format. i'd rather spend the time doing a real time transfer instead of scouring the web for download links.
