jhulud
Yeah...I'm a mod...but even I don't know what board to throw this up on... So I'm selling a few records on eBay...one of which I have listed as "brand new and sealed"...fuckin' obviously never opened and mint...but yet I get this question: "is i win this can you bubble wrap to ohio and does it have ANY seam splits or cover damage?" I'm kinda floored on how to respond...
trainreck
strange... i would just say something like "sure i can wrap it in bubblewrap for you if you win and no there is no damage at all", should answer his "question"
captainmorgan
May I suggest: "yes is can to bubble wrap and ohio NO cover damage."
adamlikesmusic
I've had new shrinkwrapped records with split seams. An unopened record can also have a jacked cover, y'know? I'd have been more surprised if he'd asked "is it unopened?", just because you'd already stated that. His question seemed kind of normal to me. I'm probably missing something here, though. kurtz
The question sounds like its coming from the type of person who would file a paypal claim if the record arrives with a dinged corner. I would tell them that it is in mint condition now and you will package it with care, but you can't guarantee that the post office won't cause some minor damage. hickey
Someone should tell Heisel to stop asking stupid questions to ebay sellers. Dude's from Ohio...get it?
mac1
You should write back "Thanks for the warning. Don't bother bidding, you have been banned from any of my auctions."
ene
a sealed record can definitely still have seam splits and cover damage(bent corners/creases/etc.), I have had and sold some like that in the past(and noted it, obviously). I will say though, that once when selling a sealed record I got asked what condition the vinyl was in, that was kinda weird.
kyle
You should write back "Thanks for the warning. Don't bother bidding, you have been banned from any of my auctions." He's right. This guy will be nothing but trouble for you. Ban him as a bidder.
davehoffa
Yeah dude . . . you can have all sorts of splits and cover damage with the record still being sealed!

I love that word
jhulud
Thanks Barrie! I use that word often...it sounds funny and I chuckle whenever using it.
jhulud
This is the response I sent the guy: It will be sent in an LP mailer as it should be. It is still shrink-wrapped and no damage to cover/jacket. At times there may be some damage in transit due to how USPS handles it. Bear that in mind. rocknroll76
I had a guy ask me about one of auctions last week, "Is this a poster?" Well, it said LP in the title, and clearly had a picture of an album w/ vinyl sticking out, not a poster. I don't get people sometimes. listentovinyl
i cant believe youre floored by this question, have you not ever purchased a new record w/ slit seams and cover damage? i know i sure have. and the people saying you should ban him....thats just ridiculous. jhulud
The banning comment was a joke I'm sure... As for being "floored" by the question, believe it I kinda am simply because the description clearly stated that the record is sealed and in close to mint condition. I too have received plenty of sealed and brand new records w/ some sort of damage. Shit happens when in transit thanks to the good ol' USPS. Once the record leaves my hands and being handled/sent by the postal service I can't take blame for how it arrives.
melikecheese
everyone seemed to make the assumption that this person actually read that is was unopened before they asked the question. People don't read.
