I am sure most of the major label artists ask for big bucks in royalties and the majors also have to cater to share-holders so there are a lot of mouths to feed.

the reissue of Purple Rain is an audiophile 180g reissue, remaster specifically for vinyl. the guy who did the remastering is Kevin Gray. this guy is world renowned in the audiophile world for his excellent work. the reissue actually sounds better than the original pressing.

I thought Rhino didn't do 180.

unless there was a mixup at the pressing plant (like the Green Day reissues), i'm pretty sure Walk Among Us will be 180g. all of Rhino's recent reissues (Fear, Germs, Jesus and Mary Chain, etc) have been on 180g vinyl.
