mhmitszach
So I don't get what it is about brand new records, but I can't never get all the little bits of dust off of them. I've got an lp gear brush. Run it around record and slid out with it. Gets 90 percent of the dust. Still just that little bit that won't clean off and makes little pops while listening. Any help with cleaning these? or an answer to why new records hold on to dust so much? zach

mhmitszach
Tons of thanks. It was a simple question that I haven't been able to answer after looking at numerous cleaning videos and guides.

thrillho
all new records usually come like this, i think i might have something to do with the static from packaging. what works for me is a cleaning solution spray and a anti-static cloth. http://www.sleevetown.com/vinyl-cleaning.shtml this is what i have, works great: Phoenix Record Cleaning System for Vinyl - includes a patented, reusable, ultra fine Microfiber Record Cleaning Cloth and your choice of 8 oz. or 4 oz. spray-on Phoenix Record Cleaner with enzymes. Spray a light mist on the record surface and wipe gently with the grooves.
deafmx
i've heard Gruv-Glide Record Treatment Kit is one of the best too but it's always been too expensive for me to pickup and try. i really need something besides a carbon fiber anti-static brush that creates tons of static but i'm too cheap for the time being

I've been using the Phoenix set up listed above for over a year and it's cleaned my vinyl extremely well.
mhmitszach
Haha. Seriously thanks now. I've got the double bristled brush. Works great, just doesn't help with static at all. I will have to try out some liquid cleaner now.
funkydrummer
I use this http://www.kabusa.com/ev1.htm It's cheap compared to the other cleaning machines and it completely gets rid of the ticks and pops.
