rtw88
This album was super boring. Half of the songs recycle familiar folk progressions that have been used a thousand times before. I think almost ever song follows the formula of starting off slow and restrained, usually acoustic, and then coalescing at the end with strings and electric instruments. Boring. googlemyass
by the way.....i suggest listening to mewithoutyou's "Cattail Down" then listening to Murder By Death's "The Big Sleep". Its a fucking joke. mewithoutyou stole that song. Same key same progression, same instruments, same phrasing.

None of the other songs sound remotely like it. It's easily my favorite track on there.

flatlinemole
its definitely not as good as Brother, Sister (which would be hard to exceed) but i gave it a couple listens and it's pretty good.

lonesomexloveus
ok, i listened to like the first 10 seconds of every song (i know, no indicator of whether the album is cohesively good or not) but every song started with acoustic guitar. wtf? i'm not saying it won't/isn't good but where the heck is that driving awesomeness than made earlier mewithoutyou so compelling and awesome up to this point? thebaroness
I don't mind it musically, but the lyrics are pretty weak which is the most disappointing part for me.
dreamover
if you like that every thought song, then you'll like the album. i for one hated it, and am not really digging the album. pretty disappointing in the grand scheme of things. heavyheavylowlow
I really can't stand heavy music anymore, especially since it's cool tolike it now, so I'm all good if they've completely lost the drum driven pounding-ness of their earlier stuff. I'm not saying I wouldn't like somemore of it. Wolf Am I is a pefect mix of heavy and melodic.
lonesomexloveus
is it just me, or do most of the songs sound like they were written in a major key and are 'fun' and aimed at children? i feel like they do a lot of talking about cookies and pudding and foxes and other small cute things. dreamover
It is definitly not cool to like heavy music anymore. That was 5 years ago. Now it's all about folky music. (fleet foxes, sufjan, etc). So this record fits right in
