monk0nuggets
This is good, but not what I was expecting at all.
scottheisel
This record is EXACTLY like Amputechture. There's barely any rhythm section. It is so goddamn boring. From best to worst: Frances The Mute De-loused In The Comatorium The Bedlam In Goliath Octahedron Amputechture
celebdeath
yeah, thats my list too /\ (minus octahedron) my fear that this might be another amputechture. i'll give it a listen before i buy it
monk0nuggets
I listened to it again. I'm a fan. Isn't VC putting up the preorder soon?

alertthemute
Yeah I've spun this album like 20 times in the last 2-3 days. Really liking it.
Guest kingbuzzo
I'm glad I listened to this before I pre-ordered. It sounds like a really boring version of the worst imaginable Faith No More album with Kelly Clarkson singing on it. Easily my least favorite album of theirs. oakland
Scott, I have to disagree. De-loused is easily the best.
mattisr1984
de-loused is their best album. guess who got a copy of frances the mute for 12 bucks this weekend? this guy.
scottheisel
Scott, I have to disagree. De-loused is easily the best. I think De-loused has their best songs, but I think Frances is their best all-around album in terms of flow.
celebdeath
Scott, I have to disagree. De-loused is easily the best. I think De-loused has their best songs, but I think Frances is their best all-around album in terms of flow. yeah, i;d have to agree with this also. frances is a complete listening experience, especially when you tag the actual Frances the Mute song on the end of the album (a bit bewildering that they chose to fill the 6th side of the vinyl with an etching when it would've been PERFECT with the Frances... song on that side). Deloused has awesome individual songs but Frances is the better album.

I think De-loused has their best songs, but I think Frances is their best all-around album in terms of flow. Totally agree with you Scott. I don't like this new album so much...but i think it's better then Amputechture.
mynameisdan
This album was inspired by an ancient game of Guess Who, that the band found while going through a yard sale in ancient South Africa. No matter what questions you ask, the only tile remaining will always be Andrew! ha, ancient South Africa.
monk0nuggets
I don't understand all the hate on Amputechture. I think it's a great record, though it came after a REALLY great record.

jaime
^what he said. Can't get into Pridgen in the same way. mhm. pridgen is way too explosive all of the time. love jon theodore
coryvc
Pridgen has no idea what it means to sit back. Saw the Volta with him and I felt like I was watching a 50 minute drum solo. Ridiculous.

troymess
Well, quick update: Omar Rodriguez Lopez productions just put this up for pre-order: http://hellomerch.com/sh/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=877&category_id=46&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2 This is a unique pre-order in that the first 500 orders here get a special slipmat with the order. Also, if you take a look around his store, you can see he offers digital downloads for ALL of his solo works (in mp3, FLAC, etc.) and you get to name your price, but with a $7 minimum. Virgil, I was waiting to order from you, but I'm assuming you probably won't get the slipmat deal?
thomas
I'm liking this album, first album of theirs I really dig since Frances The Mute. I regret not grabbing Frances the Mute and the singles on vinyl when they came out.
