That's pretty much where I'm at too. i curse adobe and steve jobs. a $29 upgrade is now costing me either $500 for the suite (with my sis's educational discount) or hours of frustration trying to find a serial key that works. probably the former of the two, sadly. drabley
I have regular Leopard. Snow Leopard just doesn't sound sexy enough for me to want to upgrade. I'm holding out for OS X Ocelot. Now that sounds like one fast, reliable, and sexy beast.
lonesomexloveus
i think i could convince my mom to get a mac solely because the operating systems are named after big cats. ...and she's a crazy cat lady.
punkrudeboy
I'm running it right now. Install went really smooth and running smoothly. Still have a mess of apps to load back on so we'll see how that goes.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
does CS3 work with snow leapord? because if not, im not upgrading
brettall
Snow Leopard is just alright. There are quite a few changes "under the hood" apparently (rewrite of Finder, etc), but there aren't a lot of surface changes. Other than the new Quicktime, which is awesome, there isn't much to get excited about.
mattstrike
Who the fuck is naming these OS's? Anyway, freeing up 30GB is something to get excited about, esp on a MacBook Pro.
brettall
Mine "free'd up" about 10GB. But apparently it's not actually freeing up any room, they've just changed the way the OS calculates disk space. It's more accurate now.
patrick
To somewhat answer OP question, I have a bartender who just upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard for the $29 price. I have not upgraded yet, as I hear it is mostly back end stuff. I will, just in no rush to.
lonesomexloveus
does CS3 work with snow leapord? because if not, im not upgrading supposedly it does, but CS4 is the only one that adobe 'officially' supports in snow leopard.

I will, just in no rush to. Their website makes it sound like you need to buy the whole box set to upgrade from Tiger, which really wouldn't make sense. If I can upgrade for the $29 price I'll likely do it this week, and will also need to switch to CS4 it seems.
kirbypuckett
Technically you are not allowed to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard. You are violating the EULA. So if you're going that route, you misawell just download it and save $30. The upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard works perfectly without Leopard though. swankymodes
I'm still running a PowerPC PowerBook G4, and I have no interest in dropping the thousands of dollars to upgrade to an intel mac. I guess the regular Leopard is as high as I'll ever go.
keymanmk
does CS3 work with snow leapord? because if not, im not upgrading Upgraded mine on Sunday. My CS3 works fine.
sgoodcore
Mine "free'd up" about 10GB. But apparently it's not actually freeing up any room, they've just changed the way the OS calculates disk space. It's more accurate now. Its actually less accurate. They moved from binary math to base-10. Either way they did actually free up space by freeing apps of entire branches of code allowing for functionality with both the Intel and PowerPC architecture. adamlikesmusic
They also removed printer drivers. Drivers now download as you need them. Yeah, I remember right when I got my MBP, the dude in the Apple Store told me if I wanted to save a few gigs, I could reinstall the OS, sparing me the printer drivers, unnecessary languages, etc.

Also if you have older versions of major apps like photoshop, snow leopard is not worth the price it would cost to be fully compatible. At least yet. sgoodcore
Its been verified you don't need the box set regardless of where you're at now.
