ihprstl
I really like Windows 7 but I wouldn't run it with less than 2 gigs of ram. If your PC was store bought, came with XP and is more than a couple years old, it most likely has 1 gig.
kirbypuckett
I love Windows 7. It's the best Windows yet. It runs fantastic on my system too, but I have 4gb of RAM. If your computer was built for XP, chances are you might need some upgrades to get Win 7 to run well. Disable Aero and all that crap. Google "Tweak Windows 7" you'll find some stuff -- backup. kgry
You need a decent computer to run it. A lot of people bitch but the truth is, the technology span of a computer is only like 2 to 3 years. Shit I have a laptop with 3gb of RAM, duo-core and 320gb drive and Win 7 rates it at only 3 out 5.

mcm1610
I love it, except it's tweaked out on me once or twice. This morning actually it booted up and forgot it was Windows 7, not Windows 3.1 so I just shut it down and restarted. It was odd...

Yeah, you def. need more RAM! Um, go to Crucial.com or Kingston.com and they have little programs that will tell you what type of RAM you need. Find out, then go to Newegg.com and buy it there because it'll probably be cheaper. Disable Aero though, you'll see some performance gains there right away. Check that, then check Newegg and Microcenter, and even Amazon for best prices. also, I'd recommend Corsair for a Brand. Solid, and I've never had an issue with them. I currently have 6GB in my new system that's running Win7. It's fucking awesome. Definitely the best Windows yet.
mcm1610
I have Win7 32 Bit but my comp can definitely handle 64 bit. Is it worth it to switch? Is it even possible? I don't really do much with my computer. PDFs and iTunes are probably the most intensive thing I do.

The 64-bit version of iTunes runs a bit faster I think.

monk0nuggets
What is this Aero thing? Not that mine is incredibly slow, but I'd like to see if there is a difference. I've had 7 for a few weeks and it's way way way more stable than Vista. My laptop hasn't crashed once since installing it versus a crash a day with Vista. kgry
Aero is the theme Win 7 uses. The window effects and menu effects and transparency effects.

Yeah. I wanna say it's under Control Panel > System > Advanced but I'm not sure. It's somewhere in the Control Panel. Maybe the Users.
