adamlikesmusic
Am probably gonna subscribe to Netflix's cheapest package, mostly for the instant streaming, but figured I'd ask a few questions to some people who might know. -How good is the selection for streaming? -How long does it take for a brand new movie to appear? -Are most new movies available to stream relatively close to release date? And if anyone uses this on the Xbox 360, do you know if it's locked to a console, or just the HDD? (If I took my 360's HDD to a buddy's place to watch a movie, would Netflix work on his 360?) AsleepOnRocks
Selection is good, studios have some sort of deal with Netflix where there is a certain period of time that has to pass before it is available to them. Not a ton of new movies, but a lot of recent stuff. Not sure about the 360, but if i'm not mistaken there's some sort of fee you have to pay to use it on the 360. Computer & PS3 are free. One more thing, don't sign up for their cheapest package, yeah, it's only like $4.99 a month, but you can only stream a maximum of two hours a month. Bump up to the $8.99 package and it's unlimited. adamlikesmusic
I was actually looking at the $8.99 subscription. I had no clue a $4.99 one even existed, hahah. And the Xbox 360 version of it is free to Xbox Live Gold members, which is the premium version of its online services. (Have been a Gold member for over 5 years, so that isn't a problem for me)
rockstar71888
The newest movies on there (at least last week) were Step Brothers and Pineapple Express. Just got Zombieland in the mail. I got the 8.99 one
kurtz
^There are definitely some more recent movies than that. Big Fan is on there and that was just released last month.
daniel
Yeah don't expect to rely on streaming for new releases. The selection is rather outdated.
kyle
For $9 a month it's the best value you'll get from your 360 (or PS3). There is tons of material available to stream instantly but DO NOT get it if you think you're going to stream brand new blockbuster releases. Smaller films will be available instantly but the big ones take a few months.
adamlikesmusic
Yeah, I knew it takes a while to get brand new releases. Is why I'd still be using the 1 DVD at a time. I just hate when I impulsively say "I wanna watch Taxi Driver", and don't have any means of doing so.
Guest eriathomas
It's better to check their streaming on the site, rather than through the netflix dashboard on the 360 since it does not list even a fraction of what is streamable. It'd be nice if they implemented a search feature.
selfreliable
Just got the disc in the mail today to stream on my ps3, pretty excited about this. Havent had a chance to check it yet, but hey its free for two weeks at least.

memphis666
I just signed up for the 8.99 plan myself. I'm not sure if it's locked to the hard drive on a 360 or not. But I can access my account from my 360, PS3, and my laptop. I also have the same account tied to another PS3 I have in our living room. You do need a disc for the ps3 though so that might be different since it loads netflix to the hard drive on the 360. I've found the Instant Streaming has a much better selection for TV shows than it does for movies. I would imagine you would be able to take your hard drive to a friends house and still do instant streaming.
kirbypuckett
FYI 1080p is coming soon.

adamlikesmusic
http://www.streamingsoon.com/ You know, I was on the fence until I saw that Sorority Boys is coming this month. Huge sigh of relief there.
rhythmgtr5
i know with the PS3, you are able to get up to 5 netflix discs that can be used simultaneously. It's pretty sweet as my brother got me a disc that is hooked to his account.
adamlikesmusic
FYI1080p is coming soon. http://twitter.com/netflix Claims to be the official Twitter account of Netflix, so I can only assume it's legit. Not that it matters for me, anyways, as my TV at home is only 720p, and I can't tell the difference regardless.
brad
it's worth it for 899 best part about streaming is the TV shows. it's how I watched the office seasons 1-5 and three seasons of Friday Night Lights (watch this show, it's awesome) as far as Xbox it's just connected to your live account...so if you can sign into live on a friends Xbox i'm sure it would work
selfreliable
Does anyone know how to get more than just the 100 options they give you for streaming in each category on the ps3? Doesnt make alot of sense to watch the first season and the most recent season streaming so Im hoping that you can find a way to stream them as well on ps3 and not just your computer. brad
I'm not sure if this is right since I don't have a ps3 but the way I use it for the xbox is build a instant que on a regular computer and you can bring up the que on the xbox

monk0nuggets
I use this constantly on my 360. If you have a good internet connection the picture quality is fine. As for selection, it's not as current as it could be, but I watch a lot of TV shows and older movies, so its fine for me.
adamlikesmusic
Can one easily change their Netflix address? I'm living in a dorm room for another 3 months, but after that am moving into an apartment. Would I easily be able to change that address? skaddict
Yeah it's really easy. I've done it before, but I think all you have to do is go under your account and update it. I don't think there is anything special you have to do.
