adamlikesmusic
I can't see why anyone would place an ad in an application that is paid. Seems like a dick move. Though from what I've heard from a friend who made an iPhone app, they're easy enough to add in as it is. If an app doesn't have them now, I can't imagine this causing them to add them. From the demo, the ads look the same as old ads, the difference is when you click them. They're more user friendly. I've seen some paid apps with ads. People freak out when that stuff happens. For good reason, that's retarded. It's like if Hulu added a paid version, but still had ads. destroyingthescene
Stoked on the multi-tasking and folders additions but I'll have lots of fun with Game Center, I'm really looking forward to that one!
roadmonkey
Anyone else a little irked about some of the answers Jobs gave during the QA? From http://www.engadget.com/2010/04/08/live-from-apples-iphone-os-4-event/ Ryan Block from GDGT: What about running unsigned apps? Steve: You know, there's a porn store for Android. Anyone can download them. You can, your kids can. That's just not a place we want to go. Really??? isnt' that blatant censorship? Also I get it it's Apple vs Android, but going right for the porn angle on Android is a low blow. And then there was this gem: Q: How do you close applications when multitasking? A: (Scott) You don't have to. The user just uses things and doesn't ever have to worry about it. (Steve) It's like we said on the iPad, if you see a stylus, they blew it. In multitasking, if you see a task manager... they blew it. Users shouldn't ever have to think about it. I don't get how having a task manager is "blowing it" in the eyes of multitasking. ALL Multitasking OSes have them. They work, why so anti. Also what if apps just don't die. Then what, you'll have people that are running like 20 apps on their iphone and then complain that it's slow as hell. Just a little confused/dumbfounded about these responses
scotterson
Anyone else a little irked about some of the answers Jobs gave during the QA? Agreed. That Q&A was pretty worthless.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I rarely use apps with ads. I have a feeling this is going to make them easier to implement and everyone will have them.I can't stand ads. Doesn't matter, I have a 3G, so I probably can't use half this stuff haha. huh, no ads on my blackberry. pretty awesome
adamlikesmusic
If only Blackberrys didn't suck This is particular applications having ads, not the phone itself. (While I jest, I did really have one for a while, and absolutely hated it)

kirbypuckett
That's a bad analogy, I'd drive the ad free car any day. At least Ford has the ford sync
suburbanargyle
So, I'm ignorant to most of this discussion, but....I have a 3Gs, can I get this new OS on my phone? And how would this work? I'd pay for it and download it from the online store or something?

You'll click download and install and plug your iPhone into your PC and it'll do all the work. It'll be free for you most likely.
