drabley
I've always been a fan of Sennheisers. They should have a decent that meets your budget. In ear or otherwise.

Snaggle Von Swift
also, I do have a decent pair of over ears now, they are Skull Candy G.I. (got them on a 60% off sale through Skullcandy), they are just a big pain in the ass with glasses, that's why I was thinking in-ear. And i'm not limited to $50, I can go up to or a little over $100 (if really worth it), just preferred not to. I picked up the Beats by Dre iBeats ($99) and they really didn't seem all that great. almightyseancore
i bought a pair of RCA wireless headphones from walmart for $50, and they work and sound amazing. the only downside is you have to charge them for about 15 hours before your first use, but it is well worth it. just don't use the microwave while wearing them. I never wanted to spend the money, then I got a pair of Master Blasters. Now I understand why they are expensive, and its well worth the money. http://www.nixonnow.com/headphones/ Also - if the source for your headphones is a iPod or a portable player, don't waste your money on headphones, because all it will do it show you how crappy a iPod sounds, they do not have the power or electronics to power a decent pair of headphones. HOWEVER! a buddy of mine had like 4 pairs of old headphones (the 3.5MM jack was not even invented yet) and they sounds great too, at least the higher quality sets, so check out eBay for vintage ones. edgedestroys
I've been using Sony's MDR-V150 for years and I love them. Really cheap and great sound. These are actually pretty decent low budget headphones. I'm currently on my third pair. Up until now (they've finally shortened them) I tripped on or stepped on the cord until they didn't work anymore haha. I keep going back to them because they're hard to beat for only $20 but I want to invest in something more serious as soon as I can divert my spare money away from vinyl and a new monitor. Which leads me to seconding Sennheiser. Their stuff is beyond solid and worth the price.
konk
Not in-ear and more than $50, but I think I'm gonna get these, unless my local mom and pop has something around the same price. Anyone familiar with the line out adapter for the ipod? Do I need a headphone amp with that? Am I going overboard for $100 headphones? And how big is that gonna make my ipod? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Shure+-+Professional+Studio+Headphones/1118988.p?id=1218222412308&skuId=1118988
