cwilks
http://thekey.xpn.org/2011/07/union-transfer-launches-new-website-releases-official-opening-schedule/ Show list looks pretty impressive already. What do all the Philly VCers think?
Team Avatar
I'm not Philly, but if it's a brand new venue, I think that many shows right away is not a good idea. Even with past experience, the management needs time to work the kinks out, and 15 shows in a month and a half doesn't give much time.. but sweet anyways! flood
R5 is pretty much the blueprint for how to be a successful DIY promotion company. they handle their shit, they take care of their bands, and they've been doing it for years.
Snaggle Von Swift
"The venue is a new joint partnership between myself [r5], Bowery Presents (who book a ton of great shows in nyc and own a few venues of their own) and Four Corners Management (the folks who own Drinkers, Noche, Lucys and a few other bars around town)." that's a very solid group of people running things. also, my ultimate thoughts on this place come down to one major thing.. "the venue will feature AIR CONDITIONING (and lots of it !)" i'm sold!
LowEndAutomatic
I'm sort of curious and excited about this considering that R5 will be handling the booking... At 34, I'm not as eager to see shows in the Church basement as I was in 1997.
struckanerve
i think this will turn out to be the go-to venue in philly. i personally hate the electric factory, and starlight, meh, not a fan of low ceiling venues. the church can still cater to what it does best. cant wait to get up there and catch a show here.
