i have sworn off april fools shenaninanigans after a prank a couple of years ago got way out of hand.

i had a show in toledo that night and my friend had a show at the venue i worked at. he said onstage that i had been arrested in an incident that sounded like the kind of thing i would get arrested for. i sent an email out, signed by my wife, to a couple people, telling them 'the full story'. this turned into a real effort among people to raise money for my defense and bailing me out of jail. i was at work the entire time and felt like shit responding to 300000 missed phone calls and emails at 1 in the morning - i had no idea it was that out of hand.

i just put a note on my roommates car, saying its going to be towed if she parks there again and that this is her final warning. See, theres this spot right in front of our apartment that no one parks in. we dont know if no one has the spot (we have assigned parking), or if someone does, they just dont have a car. And she is super paranoid about having her car towed while she parks there.

I pulled an early prank on my parents yesterday, because i wouldnt be able to call them today. I told them my girlfriend and I went to a courthouse to get married. they called me an asshole

from deadformat.net:

Hey friends,

Yes, the title of the topic is true. I'm extremely excited to announce that Dead Format and Punk News will soon become one website. The wonderful people at Punk News have decided to purchase Dead Format, and all the features you know and love on this website will be available on PunkNews.Org. You'll now be able to find out about new vinyl releases as well as tour dates and all other news for your favorite bands.

I will be hired as the lead developer and continue to work on version 4.0, and be one of the forum moderators. There will also be a whole team of people working on a new and improved submissions system to make things go much faster.

A date for the merger has yet to be set, but it should be shortly and it will hopefully be as smooth as possible. All your user accounts will be the same, but http://www.deadformat.net will redirect to http://www.punknews.org and you can login with your DF account through their interface.

I hope you guys are as stoked as I am about this... it will be awesome for sure. I'll gladly answer any comments/questions in this thread, click here to discuss.

-Nick

Fake Problems run into Real Problems on Anti-Flag tour

Posted by chris on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM (EDT)

Floridian troublemakers Fake Problems have been asked to leave their current tour with Anti-Flag. The whole fiasco started at the tour's stop in Dallas, TX last night when Fake Problems vocalist/guitarist Chris Farren began criticizing the headlining band's views on America's involvement in the war in Iraq, calling vocalist Justin Sane a "freedom hater." Apparently, the feud was thought to be resolved until later in the evening when Fake Problems bassist Derek Perry proceeded to give Anti-Flag's Chris #2 an impromptu haircut, essentially clipping off the entire mohawk. Upon waking and discovering his new hairstyle, Chris #2 immediately came to blows with Perry during breakfast at a roadside Chicken and Waffles restaurant, where Anti-Flag management determined the two bands could no longer tour together and informed Fake Problems they were no longer welcome.

Derek Perry commented:

This is absurd. How better to "up that punx" than to upend their haircuts? I thought I was making my own social statement. Chris #2 obviously doesn't appreciate the value of a free trim.

No word on who will be replacing Fake Problems for the remaining dates.
