almightyseancore
i have two friends doing this right now, and they make it look pretty easy. plus it's delicious and almost twice as potent as most of the stuff i drink. do you or anyone you know have any success stories on this? and if i try myself, what are the odds of blowing up my apartment? somethingvinyl
It doesn't seem like the most difficult process but way over my abilities.

melvinscam
i do and i love it. so far i have brewed: Cream Stout Pale Ale Belgian Saison Honey Pale currently have an oktoberfest lagering and an IPA that i racked onto some orange zest that is dry hopping right now. my next beer will be a california common beer, like an achor steam; but i'm gonna add some honey malt. also i have some hard cider going as well. Brewing your own beer is easy to learn, difficult to master. everyone that tries it, ends up being surprised how great it tastes. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bottom-of-the-Barrel-Brewing/149535448446462
thestigmachine
I've got a friend that just started brewing beer. I got a bottle of his very first beer (a bitter) on saturday. It actually tasted wonderful. And that's pretty impressive to me, seeing as this was his first attempt. Can't wait to try his wheat beer that's almost done now... Guest afsdan
brewing your own beer is very easy. I've been brewin' with my bro for about 5 years now. we like to push it a little with our beers. In the last few years: - Imperial Stout (some bottles included a fresh sprig of rosemary or thyme) - Ginger Beer (holy shitloads of fresh ginger in the brew. Pounds and pounds of ginger we grated ourselves. This is one of the best beers i've ever had - Colorado-Hopped IPA - Single Hop Warrior IPA - Cherry Saison (all CO cherries, some grown on our co-workers farm) - Peach Saison (CO peaches, duh) - Chili Beer (habaneros, jalapenos, serrano, anaheim) - Lychee Blonde (first crop of organic lychees grown in the US. we shucked a couple pounds of those fuckers on our front porch. it was sticky) - Apple Ale (made an apple liquor, and used that in the fermentation. shit tons of fresh apples also) - Anise Brown (star anise) - We also did a mead of sorts with molasses, homemade blueberry jam, chamomile, raw sugar, lemon juice, and lime leaves. it's still sitting in an oversized bottle ready to try. it could suck. rtw88
I think I might start making my own soon. The only thing that sucks is I don't really have much of any space in my apartment, not even really much for the beer jugs and all the bottles. My friend brews though and has had some successes and failures. From what I gather, the most important thing is to make sure everything is cleaned well and properly. Guest afsdan
cleanliness and sanitation is key it really doesn't take much space.
stranaspank
I've made one batch and it totally sucked. It didn't get carbonated and I doubt there was any alcohol in it. Going to try more once winter starts rolling in.

vinylville
I've never brewed at home but when I lived in Austin, one of my neighbors did. I barely remember some of it. He was good at brewing. Serious beer buzz is what I recall. There is a local small brewery I'd suggest... http://www.parishbeer.com/
