Anyways, I can't find it now but someone linked an old connor oberst album/demo/ep but the link was dead(curse you rapidshare) if anyone wouldn't mind throwing that back up I'd be greatful.

Also wouldn't mind the inmixes sharks keep moving with the violins

and so I can throw somethin down, here's RXBs acoustic set from some interview they did a few months back(download only so no worries) I also threw in a halfway b-side(i think it is) titled "Two winters ago"

"some interview" = the acoustic session I recorded with them last year.

no fuckin shit that was you? that's nuts man. Good choice on songs for them to play acoustic!

alright. cause i want to see this thread move some more and I'm feeling good.

Here's some D-rockets. If you were ever in to The Return or remember them, this is the singer's solo project(before the ashtray life) that he released a lil EP for download only(free at that). This shit is great. It's a little indie/folky but its some damn good acoustic tracks. (you cant find it anymore i dont think either) I suggest giving it a listen esp at only 28 megs or whatever it is

Nirvana - In Utero (original Steve Albini mixes)

From Wikipedia:

"In Utero is the third and final studio album by the American grunge band Nirvana, released September 21, 1993 on DGC Records. Nirvana intended the record to diverge significantly from the polished production of its previous album, Nevermind (1991). To capture a more abrasive and natural sound, the group hired producer Steve Albini to record In Utero during a two-week period in February 1993 at Pachyderm Studio. The music was recorded quickly with few studio embellishments, and the song lyrics and album packaging incorporated medical imagery that conveyed frontman Kurt Cobain's outlook on his publicized personal life and his band's newfound fame.

Soon after recording was completed, rumors circulated in the press that DGC might not release the album in its original state, as the record label felt that the result was not commercially viable. Although Nirvana publicly denied the statements, the group was not fully satisfied with the sound Albini had captured. Albini declined to alter the album further, and ultimately the band hired Scott Litt to make minor changes to the album's sound and remix the singles "Heart-Shaped Box" and "All Apologies"."

here's how steve albini wanted us to hear this album...

yeah dude put 'em up!

i'm in a serious nirvana mood the past couple days after watching a documentary on kurt cobain's "suicide". it was like an hour and a half long and really interesting. done by a british dude who talked to a bunch of people who knew kurt way back when (his old girlfriend of 3 years, his grandfather, his old librarian, etc.).

I love the solo on Albini's version of Heart-Shaped Box.

The band, more specifically, Krist and Dave, wanted Litt to remix because Krist was convinced that Albini's mixes were off-putting. There was some talk or speculation (can't remember which) that Cobain and Albini were in agreement to make the album as harsh and disconcerting to listen to as possible. (Probably paraphrasing Krist's thoughts on the matter).

I think it's hilarious that the reason Albini's version got pressed back in 2002 was due to someone literally grabbing the wrong master off the shelf. Vivendi Universal sure has some tight quality control!

that's interesting, matt!

thomas, where's your upload???

haha beat me to it!

HOLY SHIT it's got the demo for I Hate Myself and Want to Die! so stoked to listen to that. until "with the lights out" came out, i think the only place that had ever been released was on a Beavis and Butthead soundtrack as a bonus track.

thanks for posting this.
