shamrocks
tl;dr but what i do is use an AppleScript (i think its from dougscripts but just google it) that updates the itunes play count and then if you have last.fm running it will scrobble it automatically at some point downstream (and it keeps track of play counts, which is something i like, as a complete nerd - not just a record nerd)
synapsistapped
I don't get the impression that many people here use RYM, but I use a script called scRYMble from time to time since my entire collection is already cataloged there. It basically uses the track list from a RYM release page as a guide to either scrobble a past play or scrobble the release in real time. You don't have to be a member to use it. 000000
i do the iTunes method too. it's easy, but most of the time I forget, haha.
kidamnesiac
I've been thinking about this too, and I think whenever I'm playing the LP I'm gonna start playing it in my iTunes as well so that I do get the scrobbles Been scrobbling vinyl plays this way for ages. Glad I'm not the only one woefully dedicated to last.fm scrobbles.
raidenradio
One thing I don't get about last.fm is that my radio station just plays the same 20 songs over and over and over. I have like 100 artists on there and I keep getting messages that they've added new songs. Click on my radio station, same fucking songs over and over. philviral
I think you have to pay for the radio to get more selection? Not really sure as I haven't looked into it much. I mostly like last.fm to see what my play trends are... the charts are neat.
thieves
i play the mp3s or cd of an album on a laptop with the volume down if i have one of those formats as well. if not, i've gone as far as taking a random selection of mp3s, tagging them as the album i'm playing, and just playing those. i get real nerdy about my last.fm stats

tape
tl;dr but what i do is use an AppleScript (i think its from dougscripts but just google it) that updates the itunes play count and then if you have last.fm running it will scrobble it automatically at some point downstream (and it keeps track of play counts, which is something i like, as a complete nerd - not just a record nerd) I believe you may be referring to the iTunes Universal Scrobbler script, as mentioned earlier in the thread. shamrocks
yeah, im referring to the official last.fm app, which runs in the background and scrobbles plays in itunes, also will scrobble ipod plays by reading tracks that have had play counts updated, and therefore, with a simple script that updates itunes play counts, it will scrobble those plays as well
