Regardless of the ridiculous price tag, check out the description of this record.

Apparently it doesn't even play - so it's more of a collector's item or a piece of art than a record.

Just wondering what your thoughts on this record are, seeing as every one on here constantly bashes people for paying high prices for collector's items.

Oh and before you bitch me out for not putting this in the third man records thread...I didn't search for it! ;D

You know the saying...there's a sucker born every minute. Lots of them post here. Just about all the people who bought one of those liquid filled records qualify too.

That description is bullshit. The record is a clear record with the same plates as the black record. If he was buying it just to play, he could've saved $90 and bought it on black vinyl. And I have two of these, they sound great.

two of the liquid filled records or the black ones sound great? now we're getting somewhere!

From the auction...

"That being said, it could be my particular record player (a Crosley)".

DUUUUUUUUUUUUH!

alright so we're two replies in and no one has answered my very legitimate concerns with this record...let's keep this going, good work!

What's your concern? You wanted people's opinions right?

concern is probably not the right word choice...basically if these don't play at all like the ebay post claims, I don't see the appeal...

It seems like the best part of a liquid filled vinyl would be watching it spin as you're listening to the tunes...

Its obviously a collectors item. If you search the actual Third Man Records thread people I think we're talking about it leaking. The sticker doesn't even guarantee playability.

I dunno. I have seen video of someone spinning the record and it all pretty much stays still while you spin it due to the centrifugal force. I think the best part of the vinyl is just flipping it over and over in your hand like in the Third Man Records RSD video haha. That's when the liquid looks the coolest. That being the case, I'd say this is definitely more of a novelty/collectors item than anything else.

Obviously, no one few people has have any clue about rotational forces that would make the liquid head toward the outside edge of the record...I would think that would make it sound like crap, but maybe not?

the liquid is inside the record, the needle is outside. The liquid doesn't effect sound quality at all.

I bought a record by a band called furious george on rsd, it was like 8 bucks and sucked, its going on my wall for the art work, 8 dollar piece of art > 100 dollar liquid leaking piece of art.

Furious George is still around? And yes, they did suck even when I saw them about 15 years ago. They were however way ahead of the game on the skinny jeans trend.

Yeah but as stated the weight of the record with shift as it spins and can affect the steady rpms.

Haha did not expect to read about Furious George here. I confirm they weren't that good but had skinny jeans.
