piaptk
Hello everyone, after taking 2 months off from taking orders so that I could cut records at Coachella for 4AD/Beggar's/Young Turks, One Spark Festival in Jax, FL, and generally get my new studio in order, I am back taking orders. Starting on Thursday, I will be cutting records full time, 8 hours a day. My turnaround time is going to be extremely quick. I can do round records, square records, picture discs, semi-flexis that you can cut into any shape you want, etc. Check out Facebook.com/lathecuts or lathecuts.com for more info. Minimum order is only 20 records!

turnstiles
veeery interesting. very tempting getting some old stuff from bands I've been in pressed. hrm... That's exactly what I was thinking, but I don't have an extra 150 bones right now, but as soon as I do I would probably be down to do this. kjkenney
haha same. I've always wanted to have it on something other than cd, but definitely never had a fan base to meet the minimums of other pressing plants. ~$150 isn't bad by any means though. someday you'll be hearing from me hopefully! blanchardoswald
I'll be doing this when my brothers band records their album this summer.
piaptk
I can do round 7"s. They are an extra $1 a disc. I have to route them out with a plunge router and circle jig, which is super messy and a total pain. But I can do it. Most people prefer squares, just because very few people have square records in their collection...
Daniel Dopp
Do you have any pictures of projects that you've worked on? I'd love to see what your stuff looks like.
mitchard
This is relevant to my interests. I was just talking to a friend about getting some old stuff pressed in a small run the other day. Prices seem very fair as well. Just saw Young Turks for the first time at Rainfest. Excellent band. What did you press for them?
piaptk
It was actually for Young Turks Records, the label run by Jamie XX. You can see some examples of what I've done here: http://piaptk.limitedrun.com/categories/poly-clear-plastic-lathe-cuts (you may have to click on the products to see the actual records), or www.Facebook.com/lathecuts. I'm working on putting together a Flickr of records I've made for myself and for other people. I can do some crazy stuff.
nothingnatural
PIAPTK is completely legit and awesome. I own quite a few PIAPTK lathes and they are all top notch quality.

sunsmellsloud
This gives me the crazy idea to finish mixing an old friend's demo, have it pressed, and send it to her. Will be in contact soon.

kouka
is there any way you can post a comparison of a digital file vs a rip of the same song from the vinyl/plexi? I'd love to hear the quality first.
