Fireside Bowl documentary

Recommended Posts

I've only been to one show at the Fireside, April 1, 2004. I was living in Columbus at the time, and The Wednesdays (garage punk out of north Alabama) had announced a small string of dates in the midwest. The didn't tour up north all that often, and I figured this would be one of my last chances to see them. Strangely enough, the opener was Manda and the Marbles, a girl-fronted power pop band from Columbus. The Wednesdays ripped through their set next, and the Riverboat Gamblers were the headliner. They were sloppy as hell, and sounded terrible. I still haven't given those guys another listen.

I picked up a shirt at the show, that I still wear regularly. Good times.

^^ i've heard of that being a thing, but nobody has really been able to provide any specific details so it's been hard to find any good information on it. do you remember anything about it in particular? who the host was? what channel it may have been on? etc. one good detail is all i'd need to start hunting...

i wanna say it was called loud tv. there was no host. it would just start. 90% of the shows were shot at fireside. some acquaintances of mine taped an episode in their garage. i can see if i can reach out to them to see if they have the contact of the guy who put it on. it's a long shot though.

Saw Los Crudos here once, everyone went insane. Chicago is definitely a different place now. I think the last show I saw here was Cold Lovers in 2012. Would see the doc.
