  1. I think they're both petty and useless. However, I try to make sure I'm aware of the time I waste and the fact that I DO have time to waste because I believe that such an ability is one of the most greatly under appreciated luxuries in life. I'm not trying to sound like a pompous dick, I'm just explaining why I don't think it matters if I'm arguing about something that has no purpose.
  2. Honestly, I'd go so far as to say Moon was awesome. Great doesn't do it justice as a film. It blew me away. I was only a little familiar with Sam Rockwell before seeing it and I immediately couldn't imagine anyone else playing the role.
  3. While you are right, its totally stupid to put hot liquid between your legs it shouldn't care third degree burns. And that particular McDonald's was told prior their coffee was too hot to be safe and to fix their machines. That's why they lost that case. BETTA FIX THEM MACHINES!
  4. Tea should almost NEVER use boiling water, and the same goes for coffee. My issue with the McDonald's case was that fresh coffee of any temperature should never be put between your legs. It is safe to assume that fresh coffee/tea is a little too hot for comfortable consumption and therefore should be left alone and not immediately handled (especially by your thighs). I don't see any specifics in the Starbucks article as to the burn location, other than I can assume said customer dove right in without thinking and burned their lips. I don't understand how you can be at fault as a restaurant for this unless it was indeed an unsafe container that broke or wasn't labeled as containing a hot beverage, everything past that is just common sense for the customer.
  5. I love to cook and have since I was a kid. When I was about 10 I got my first (and since, only) mandolin (vegetable slicer) and went to work right away. Being the wise 10 year old I was I decided I could be like the dudes on t.v. and not even use the guard for it. I WAS THE BEST. Wrong. Within a couple minutes I was nearing the end of my first cucumber when I felt a sharp pain and realized I had sliced the top 1/8" of my middle finger clean off. It even landed right in with the cucumbers. Mmm. Another time, 6 years later to be exact, a similar tale of my genius took form. I had just had my tonsils removed two weeks before the end of summer and was to start my first job as a dishwasher/bus boy at a barbecue restaurant. Having your tonsils out after puberty is absurdly painful and I couldn't talk for a week. I literally woke up just barely able to talk on the first day I had to work. It's safe to assume work sucked that night, and it did. At about midnight I was taking out a ton of trash. One bag in particular was really heavy and needed some extra lift. Now, glass items did indeed have their own bins, and that's not a difficult rule to follow in the kitchen, however, it was absurd of me to assume the meatheads workings there could really follow suit. I grabbed it by the bottom with my left hand and launched it into the dumpster. I felt a little bit of pain, like a piece of plastic scraping me through the bag, but once I rounded the corner and was in some decent light I could see blood pouring from hand. I had grabbed a nice handful of broken glass and had almost scooped a chunk about a 1/2" around out of my thumb and had pierced my middle finger almost to the bone. I had to just rinse it out in cold water, put a bandage on it and have my dad come pick me up. I should have gotten a couple stitches, but I suppose it wasnt necessary as it's healed decently.
  6. OH SHIT! Those came out so ridiculously awesome. Simple, yet awesome. Thank you. Let me know when I can get a set of those and I will send you my info/payment right away!
  7. One of my good friends in high school did a comic that looked similar to this called "Batman vs. Jesus" and the content was exactly as the title describes. This is awesome as well; thanks for sharing!
  8. These are the sets I watched: Steel Train (STD) - the dude's voice is not Chris Conley high so the songs were obviously tuned into a different key which made it a bit interesting. I missed a few songs, but they played a couple from SWYA, TBC, and ISIL. It was alright, but not a rock out worthy cover set. Emmure (RATM) - I was surprised they didn't try to make these songs a little more their own, which I guess is a good thing. Minus a couple bass drops, some extra screaming, and exaggerated breakdowns they really played pretty spot on. This made for one of the better sets. All the Day Holiday (Beach Boys) - I had never heard these dudes before and I was pretty amazed to see them NAILING some solid B Boys tunes. Their harmonies were right on for the most part and the lead singer does a mean falsetto. This set was really fun because everyone was just hanging out dancing and having a good time. Say Anything (Misfits) - I'm not a huge Misfits fan, but they were one of the first punk bands I ever heard and I like them enough to where this idea sounded atrocious. I'm sure it would be unbearable to listen to these covers recorded, but they did alright live and there were enough people rocking out to where it didn't matter who was playing the songs. They really didn't do much as far as changing songs which made it even funnier to have 3 dudes playing guitar. MCS (NIN) - They went all out on this set and had their drum and guitar techs play with them so they could have 3 members switching between instruments and synth. I was really surprised by this set. It wasn't the best of the day, but they really put a shitload of work into the programming and synth. They really didn't change the songs much, but came as close as they could to reproducing them, which is a challenge in itself. I was impressed by this set, but it wasn't as tight as I would have liked. STD (Pinkerton) - As with Say Anything, I'm not sure how well this would translate into a studio recording, but live, HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I never thought I would get to see most of these songs live, especially by a band I like more than Weezer haha. They really didn't mess with the songs AT ALL and from what I could tell Chris seemed to be singing much more like he used to. He definitely was not singing in his most recent style. So many people were going nuts and having a blast for this set. So much rocking out. My only complaint should really be filed to Rivers for making the album "short by design". They played At Your Funeral as an encore. No surprises there. There were some loose ends overall, but they don't have a ton of time to prep for the show, so it's understandable.
  9. I figured, given that it's an even set, they would be half and half.
  10. I'm still a pretty big HRC fan, and I met this dude a couple times and he was always so nice and just seemed like a really good guy. I hope things improve.
  11. I will be reporting back on this show later tonight. Don't expect any great news haha. I'm going to try to catch Emmure, Steel train, Say anything, MCS, and STD. This should be interesting. I'm setting my expectations low, so I'm going to have a good time no matter what.
  12. I was thinking that a Star Wars Imperial/Rebel Alliance logo set would be an awesome gift for my brother.
  13. Does anyone else have trouble with vimeo being really choppy? I'll let the video load, close all programs on my computer; besides the internet, and it just doesn't seem to play properly.
  14. How is it a cop out? Hoodwink is a festival where all the bands play cover sets! I was not aware of this and a couple of the comments people made lead me to believe that cover sets were not the standard for this show. My mistake for making that assumption. Given that fact; I like this idea a bunch.
  15. I do see this as a kind of cop out, but really, no one sees ANY potential in Chris Conley doing something interesting with this. Rough. My hopes aren't high, but I have expectations.
  16. I recorded a really depressing acoustic cover of "Sundials" by Alkaline Trio last year, but I like it a bunch so maybe that would work! I feel like it has to be good given that THE ALKALINE TRIO FAN MAN (who also happens to be a really cool dude) himself is organizing this.
  17. This is some of the most exciting vinyl news for me in a while. Wicked excited!
  18. Bummertown is overflowing with visitors today. So shitty. My brother still likes type O but was nearly obsessed all throughout high school so I think this is going to make him feel far worse than I do. Type O was also one of the first real shows that I went to.
  19. Flood isn't too far from Danbury. I'm pretty sure he lives in Ansonia which is only a 20 minute drive or so. If he can't do it I live about 40 minutes away and I'm sure I could figure something out.
  20. There were so many gems in that song that by the two minute mark I figured it had to be almost over. Haha. The worst part of the song might be the guitar solo. It sounds like a they just laid a stock recording program guitar loop over it and said "fuck it".
  21. Some apps already have this. I think multitasking on a iphone is kind of a waste. Its a tiny screen, what are you going to do? You can already be on the phone and bring up a game to play or something, its super simple to close and open another app and most apps bring you back to the same place. You can run music apps while using others at the same time. That's kind of big, but besides that and a couple other instances I agree.
  22. I don't listen to a lot of metal so I don't consider my opinion very valid, but I just got this record yesterday and it is awesome! Really awesome. I couldn't help grinning listening to Eat The Witch on the way to work. The structure of that song is excellent.
  23. The dudes at Game Stop made fun of me and my friend for buying Monopoly for Wii. This is a whole other level of ridiculous. However, if you've got all the stuff, might as well play some iScrabble.
