  1. I want this. I am not a Nirvana fan but love In Utero and don;t have it on vinyl. My problem is I don;t want to pay for the album and find it;s a crap pressing. I wish they'd announce not just who remastered the album but who is pressing it and even who cut it. Right now I'm thinking that the US pressings from Universal tend to be of a higher quality than the European because in Europe they tend to get GZ to do the presswork. Their Back to Black series is awful in Europe because of it. I'd like to pre-order it, but am ill placed to do so.
  2. I got my black "classic album" vinyl copy this morning. Very impressed. Absolutely minimal surface noise. Incredible detail. I really liked the "golden edition", but this takes the biscuit. I love this record. I've done scans for discogs and the links are below. Unhappy with the rear cover scans, but I have just killed my scanner to they're better than they should be. 3. This advice seems strange. MOV knew how many they were going to press and allocated them well before they sold out at the stores who were to receive them. what Records for instance knew precisely the number of copies the UK was bing sent (just 400). I can;t see where MOV would be at fault. In fact my dealing swith them suggests that numbers are something they;re very tight on. With the Lullabies To Paralyse issue for example they told me the specific numbers which were being pressed on red vinyl and whn asked about the black, they said an initial 1,000 and then if demand was high, they'd repress it on the black. I would assume the same principle applies to all their coloured limited editions and the black non limited copy which comes afterwards. Fingers crossed you'll get the one you'#re after. Unfortunately, Amazon refuse to make promised on the colour but if anyone still has the gold, it will be them. Just to reiterate that Discogs has plenty of Golden Edition copies. http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=4822602&ev=rb
  4. I think the only people now shipping the black are those who got the initial order in and didn;t sell it - as What Records did. Even UK firms are now waiting for fullfillment, as Amazon.co.uk were waiting giving a dispatch date of approx 18th September. however as of yesterday they started fulfilling their orders again so this at least is good news in principle for those buying their records from importers as the "2nd wave" of the black vinyl seems to have been released.
  5. Amazon.co.uk have delayed shipment until the end of September - see my previous post where I cancelled my amazon.co.uk order because of this and ordered from What Records who dispatched it the same day.
  6. Sadly no experience. All I know is that I ordered mine from What Records on 5th Sept and they shipped it the same day.
  7. All versions initially pressed have the glitch. Some people unfamilier with the track cannot hearthe problem, which is good for them. To see if your record is affected, look at the A/B side record and check the matrices. The original/faulty A/B side record had the matrix of "95945 1A MOVLP 813" on side A and "95945 1B MOVLP 813" on side B. The repress which fixed the problem has "95945 2A MOVLP 813" on side A and "95945 2B MOVLP 813" on side B
  8. First, thanks for going through the effort of explaining how you got the fixed disc. I thought you bought it already coupled. I guess I'll have to jump through hoops to get a 'good' black pressing. As for explaining things to me, we only know through observation and everyone has a different experience. I was hoping there'd be an easy way of getting a "fixed" pressing, but sadly it doesn't seem to be the way of thing. I might just buy a sealed copy and ride the rollercoaster. They're not shipping new orders of this until late Sept now, I had it on order and I just couldn't wait that long. I ordered it from What Records on Thursday and its already on its way. I can;t wait to hear it. The golden edition- even with the noise (which diminishes with each play btw meaning it's probably a matter of dust and groove polishing) has so much detail. It's a really good pressing so can;t wait for the black.
  9. If anyone is after the golden edition, then you may want to take a look at Discogs. Be sure to PM the seller to ensure it is definitely gold (says on the front cover sticker) before ordering: http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=4822602&ev=rb
  10. Cool. Out of interest how did you manage to get a copy with the replacement 1st record? I'm asking as I'm trying to obtain it on black vinyl so i don't have to mess around trying to get a replacement. Also how did you identify it was the replacement first record?
  11. MOV are more than competent and have a history of well made high quality albums. The original MPO pressings is a little bit hot, so when things get really loud, there is some blistering to the sound, but it's not a major issue. This version appears to have been remastered, with a different/new intro to Mouth To Mouth which I noticed. I;m unsure if there are many other differences, but listening to the original MPO pressing, it lacks the detail present in the MOV pressing, so although the MOV pressing is not mastered so hot, it doesn't lose anything in the way of dynamism and detail. I'm picking things up on this MOV pressig which I cannot hear on the original. That said, some feel that MOV pressings have a bit too much surface noise. That can be a side effect of having a cartridge which picks up more detail. So the cheaper blunter tool may forgoe that slight issue. It is noticeable, but is accentuated on better equipment. On balance I'd take the MOV pressing on gold over the original even if they cost the same. I've not heard the black vinyl version yet. Mine will arrive tomorrow I expect.
  12. 10" EP shouldn't cost above a fiver in my book. You can gt a well pressed vinyl album for $12. Why the greed?
  13. For Bagboy, Pixies should be tried at the Hague for war crimes.
  14. I absolutely love Why Do You Bother, As The Worm Turns, Mark Bowen, The Jungle... the album is quite underrated. It's just great. I was buying converse trainers for my daughter at the god-awful Blue Banana (UK) and they were playing Introduce Yourself. I was absolutely chuffed. I love that album too. Chinese Arithmetic is one of my favourite tracks.
  15. The US LP was mastered by John Golden and sounds pretty good even though it's DMM. He tends to know what he's doing. There are three different versions though and I've only heard one. Some of The Real Thing was remastered for the CD only compilation "The Very Best Definitive Ultimate Greatest Hits Collection" (The Real Thing, From Out Of Nowhere and Epic). It's a shame they never gave the full album a decent remaster and a 20th anniversary release. I guess they could do a 25th Anniversary remaster for the album this year but I wouldn't hold your breath. Rhino (the division of Warner which handles legacy for Warner's archives) tend to sit on their hands a bit too much. One of my favourites. I know it's a hackneyed "hipster-esque" position, but I adore their first album 'We Care A Lot'. It's such an 80's record. Very new wave, reminiscent of Killing Joke and early Young Gods. I ripped an early version of one of the album's tracks (The Jungle) and got friend in the US to remaster the track for me and it came out quite well considering my source equipment:
  16. When the real thing was released there was a conscious effort to promote CD over vinyl and as such the CD and cassette contained what were originally meant to be B-sides as bonus tracks to the album. The LP was released without these bonus tracks "War Pigs" and "Edge Of The World". Afaict this reissue will ommit these two tracks too. Perhaps MOV are not unaware that the UK, Dutch and German pressings are all still widely available on the second hand market so this reissu's main selling point will presumably be surface noise and green-splatter vinyl to satiate the children. I really hope MOV start a return to form, beginning with the inclusion of what consider two o the better tracks from what is my least favourite FNM record.
  17. I agree and KFAD will be out on MOV very soon I suspect. Late Sept, early Oct. Indeed. Worst Patton album? Peeping TOM, Adult Themes, Delirium Cordia, Oddfellows, Suspended Animation, Lovage, Annonymous... too many to list.
  18. Yes they did. I ordered it and got a second blue copy because of them. I complained and they changed the description. Then: Now: Just a heads up too, AOTY appears to be from a completely new master. Mouth To Mouth has an altered intro and the whole thing seems ultra clear - but there is a lot of surface noise, which personally I can live with as it's a hard rock album and the quiet portions of the album are not so common. I have not given it a detailed listen, but listened to it twice and liked it.
  19. If the seller lists an item on a rarer items page - click "report item" then choose "not actual item". They MUST listb records under the correct listing. if there is no correct listing, if they want to sell it, they must create the listing.
  20. It;s easy to tell if you have a glitched copy by just checking the matrices on the A/B record. Glitched: Side A: 95945 1A MOVLP 813 Side B: 95945 1B MOVLP 813 Fixed: Side A: 95945 2A MOVLP 813 Side B: 95945 2B MOVLP 813
  21. It looks like the original replacement records were on the lighter shade.
  22. I have a few items signed by Feeder, just weeks before Jon killed himself. Swim EP 12", Polythene LP (original issue), Yesterday Went Too Soon LP plus a few early singles. Faith No More Ricochet, Japanese 5" CD. A bunch of Faith No More tickets and posters Anthrax Black Lodge 10" single full signed on their Sound Of White Noise tour.Of God signed after a show. In fact Ben sold me the record. Can;t think of much else.
